Looking forward to that Southpaw matchup, hope it lives up to the billing. Also hope Price can keep Bumgarner in the yard.

If that happens, I will never hear the end of it. In SF, they all argue that MadBum is better than Kershaw because Kershaw hasn't been dominant in the playoffs. Frustrating fan base out there.

Only 3 Red Sox hitters have been face MadBum in last 5 years: Hanley (.200 avg in 25 bats), Josh R (.381 avg in 21 bats) and Chris Y (.250 avg in 12 bats). Mookie, Dustin, Xander, David, Travis & Christan will face him for first time ever. I guess Josh might be playing 3rd base based on good career against him and having David or Travis (depend on John F's decision) at 1B. I prefer Hanley to sit out.

Once again, my annual point/frustration that different rules for NL & AL combined with interleague play is the most moronic, insane and ridiculous construct in major professional sports. Either make the DH completely optional for both teams no matter where the game is played, including during the world series, or eliminate ALL interleague play forever.

Hopefully Papi doesnt get out of his rhythm with all these off days. I dont have the numbers to back me up and maybe i'm wrong but it feels like he hasn't exactly lit it up following off days. Luckily we have the Twins next anyways.

I still thinks pretty ridiculous that the National League is stuck in the 1800s.

C'mon Suarez, didn't you see all the cool kids are 7-2?

SF with the ability to develop Ace starting pitching over the years while Boston has not for exception of Lester who was let go.
SF 3 World Series rings in 6 years with one manager. Boston 3 in 12 years with 2 managers.
*SF signs Cueto 6 and 130 with 2 yr opt out clause, Samardzija 5 and 90, minus signing bonuses. Total annual average of 39 mill a year for legit #1 and #2 starting pitching when they already had a #1 and MCain.
*Sox sign Price 7 for 217 with 3rd year opt out, 31 mill average and Chris Young 2 for 13,for an annual average of 37.5 mil. They did not have a #1, 2 or arguably a #3.
SF 6th in team era, Boston 22nd. Both teams in first place but which Team has better starting pitching and relief depth to stay there?
Did Dombrowski really think the track records of the staff he inherited along with Price was a championship contender?
Is Dombrowski cash strapped by former Management with several bad contracts or does his "reputation not live up to the results" he has brought to past organizations and the Redsox this past winter?
Kimbrell was needed but as many have stated Margot was a steep price for a position that can go belly up quick (see Reddick deal).
Where do you go from here?

This season is clearly already a lost cause. Red Sox should just trade what ever pieces they have and start rebuilding for next year.

This is the most bizarre west coast trip I've ever seen. I can't imagine what happened to make this the only option.

Definitely a bizarre road trip, but hopefully the off-day gives the team much needed rest. That was a tough string of games against BAL and TOR, both on the road and at home.

Pete Abraham @peteabe 2 min. Heard #RedSox taking a look at two free agents: RHP Casey Janssen and 1B Cody Decker. Need depth in AAA. Farrell had Janssen in Toronto.

I get that some people think it's cool to have two distinct leagues that never play each other except potentially in the World Series. However, those people are wrong, and that arrangement is stupid. So having established that fact, we're left with just the one option.

Interleague play killed interest in the All Star game. It used to be a war between the leagues to see whose stars were best. Ted Williams' home run to win an all star game was one of his biggest thrills. Now, nobody cares. It's just another game.

They don't want to get injured when they aren't playing for their true team.

I'm pretty disinterested in interleague play also. I'm especially disinterested in staying up until after 1 am on a school night. I don't know how my Dodgers fan buddy does it every night.

Following the Redsox from Germany I have to stay up that long (and most often do) just for the Redsox to start playing

Imagine removing the Jays, Rays, and Yankees from the AL East, and replacing them with the Rockies, Diamondbacks and Padres. The difference in the level of competition is enormous, and that big ballpark by the Bay also plays a huge role just as you point out.
