Potentially 3 stud pitchers in the system. I'm glad reason appears to have prevailed.

I say they close the deal at 3.7 million.

Hopefully not to his $4mill price. Save room for Quintana Signing Groome and not Quintana is like getting a sundae with hot fudge, whip cream, sprinkles, but no cherry. It's not perfect, but you're still happy.

I say they close the deal at 3.7 million. Perhaps we're being way too optimistic but I was saying earlier that I wouldn't be surprised at all if the final number was closer to 3.75-3.8 million.

Now wouldn't it be something if the Sox signed Groome for 3.8, go slot for Shawaryn but leave money on the table with all their other picks unsigned?
I remember in 2013 the Sox almost left 1 million on the table and we all wanted either Boldt, or Sheffield to sign. Of course.....we didn't have a Groome at the top of that draft and this draft stands alone. I'm still holding out hope they can sign Quintana as well.

Good article. They're close to a deal, but they already have the dollar amount finalized. Hopefully, they're in the middle of updating to a done deal.

Edit, already posted.
3.75 leaves room to get Quintana done. Be so please?

Where did Callis and Mayo report that? Not on Twitter. It makes no sense to have a dollar amount while being close to a deal. That gets reported as 'agreed to a deal pending physical' or whatever.

$3.75 would be spectacular for the Sox. Could potentially put another unsigned guy into play that we weren't expecting with the presumption that it would take 4.0 to 4.05 for Groome.
The signing and Kopech's straight fire for Salem makes me happy

They have done that for every other pick The club hasn't confirmed, and it seems like the Callis and Mayo tweets occur when everything is official. This seems more like a "our sources say this" type of deal.

You realize the link is right in his post, right? Right, but they didn't write the article. It's weird that they'd tell mlb.com the dollar amount and not say a word on social media. I want to see exactly what they have to say about the supposed 'almost done deal' that already has a dollar amount. This is not the way stories break these days.

This is the most anti-climatic signing ever.

This is the most anti-climatic signing ever. I was thinking the same thing. I've gone from being absolutely obsessed with following draft news today to hardly caring at all....
