First post for the delayed White Sox game thread...
Their four starters have ERA- of 62, 69, 115, and 156 (but 513 in the AL).
Ours are 50, 86, 145 (as a starter), and 189. That could make for a bunch of close games, right?
But the matchups are:
115 vs 50 69 vs 145 62 vs 189 156 vs 86.
It's not quite precisely backwards -- our worst against their best, our second worst against their second best, and so on ... but it's close.
All four games look easy to call, and whichever team can win a game they're not supposed to can take the series.

I'm surprised LaMarre is not being given a game here. A lefty for WSox tomorrow and Wednesday. Perhaps Thursday vs Shields.

Huge advantage on games 1 and 4 for the Red Sox and huge advantage for the White Sox in games 2 and 3.
So it's pretty fair to assume that a split series is just about we can expect.

Still want 3/4. Chicago is reeling and we're at home.

I was in Baltimore for the game where Buchholz was supposed to start but was scratched for E-rod. Now I'm back in Boston for two days and going to the game tomorrow night and still find a way to see Buchholz...At least I can see Sale for the first time

I unabashedly love me some Hawk Harrelson. In no particular order here's some stuff Hawk says that other announcers don't say that I enjoy hearing:
1.) He gone! 1a) Grab some bench! 2.) Duck snort 3.) Can a corn 4.) Stretch! 5.) The Carmines 6.) You can put it on the boarddddddd, YES!
I only wish he'd spend some time talking about his GM days.
Edit: plus he once threatened to punch out Jay Mariotti, who was smart enough to take the threat seriously.

But Hawk and Dick Stockton were one of my favorite all time teams. Right up there with Martin and Woods, just below Gowdy and anybody. Another of his sayings was the red fanny club, guys who got mad fast.

(HH and Wimpy was a good pair too.) Ahh, baseball.

Well, that was ugly, but the power of the knuckleball spared us any runs scored.

For those who like to complain how biased the umps are, I'd like to point out that the first pitch to Bogaerts was very clearly a strike, while Wright got a pretty borderline call to go his way.

As ugly as that inning was, Wright had 19 pitches with 17 strikes. If that keeps up, sox win.
