Honestly, if Xander doesn't make that error Wright might've not given up any more runs.

Honestly, if Xander doesn't make that error Wright might've not given up any more runs. And that was about as routine as it gets. Pretty crucial game too as Baltimore took both from Tampa and Buchholz is going tomorrow.

Pedroia is a double play machine. The irony of his initials is maddening. DP was really a killer. Should have gotten more runs. Coming into today he had 61 GDP opportunities and hit into 12 GDP, which is an insanely high rate. Aside from the 12 GDP, which is to say, in all the PA we've failed to notice much, he's been 25 for 47, with 5 2B, 4 HR, and 3 BB. .424 / .443 / .712 in GDP situations. The effective OBP is just .246, but the .712 SA more than makes up for it. It's still the equivalent of an 850+ OPS even including the GDP's. So it's not just feast or famine in these situations ... it's gourmet feast cooked by the celebrity chef of your choice or famine. FTFY

Hanley in the 5-hole again tonight. Dial 8 again and prove me wrong, please. Also, I'm drawing a blank... anyone remember Wake saying anything about how the knuckler does in the Texas heat? I don't know what Wake said but apparently the Texas heat turns fielders' brains to mush, causing errors, which is particularly bad for knuckleball pitchers that rely on their low BABIP.

The Sunday roll over and die lineup. We didn't need runs for Clay anyways...
Betts Pedroia Bogaerts Ramirez JBJ Brentz Shaw Leon Lamarre
If someone would have told me Brentz, LaMarre and Leon were in the lineup at the same time, I would have said we were in last place.

If someone showed me an excerpt from various gamethreads, I'd have also assumed that we were in last place.

Well, Leon really isn't an offensive downgrade, and in fact is probably a slight upgrade from CV. But Lamarre and Brentz, yeah, they're bad.

Yea meant to say at the beginning of the year, if someone told me those 3 were in the lineup towards the end of June. Would of said "uh oh"....
4th and 5th option guys going into the year and LaMarre may have been like the 10th option.

The Sunday throw away games have been a staple of the Farrell years. I'm glad I didn't buy one of those Sunday Sox packs.

Buchholz just gives you literally nothing. He hasn't fooled a hitter the entire season, his arm strength is at an all-time low, and he's not smart enough to figure out how to pitch with below-average stuff. He probably should be DFA'd.

Yeah man, 3 soft contact singles. Easily could already be out of the inning if the ball wasn't well placed on every hit.

Why is Clay Buchholz still on this team?
Seriously, this team is a hot mess.

Yea, I mean, he can't be in the game. If the job of the manager is to put the team in a position to win, you can't have Clay Buchholz in the game. He needs to be taken out, put on the DL, or DFA'd. He's got literally nothing.
