Why is Vazquez playing when Farrell is always ready with the "Day game after a night game" reasoning?

What's wrong with Price? Watching the first 3 innings today this player looks nothing like the dominant ace everyone watched the last few years. Damaged goods, dead arm ? Every pitch looks as if it's maximum effort. Very much a cause for concern Are we watching the same game? The one where Price has 8 strikeouts and no walks in 4 innings, is up to 95/96 mph with his fastball, getting swings and misses on all his pitches? The command has not been crisp, and he's had some pitches drift middle-in and given up some hard contact. But the stuff is there, and I'm not particularly concerned.

Inexcusable mistake there. Stop trying to be clever and just play with sound fundamentals. That's as much on the coaching staff for not telling him to cut out the nonsense.

Too bad its at the expense of his team.

Vazquez is so bad at hitting it wouldn't have mattered

Vazquez is so bad at hitting it wouldn't have mattered It's more about clearing his spot in the order.

I would agree with you that in the long term Price will be Price; however it wouldn't surprise me in the least if this becomes a lost year a la Beckett in 2006 and Lester in 2012. It happens; players are human.

Vazquez has to chill with the pickoff at 1B attempts

...and Vazquez breaks up the no-hitter. Which analogy do you prefer, temple-- broken clock or blind squirrel?

Its all the teams fault, definitely nothing to do with Farrell the team has underperformed three straight years and four years out of five. Then with the Blue Jays before that.
Nothing to see here. Just keep moving along. Just keep on moving...

It happens; players are human. Yeah. It doesn't have to be so binary. Being concerned about Price doesn't mean sneering at advanced metric's. He is almost 31, has a lot of mileage on his arm, you have to go back to 2009, his second year in the majors, to find an year that he has pitched so poorly, 4/6 hits today went for extra bases, and he's pitching against a really bad offensive team. This isn't early in the season anymore and this isn't a one time thing. I am definitely throwing out anecdotal evidence here, but every mention I've read about elbow injuries is that command is the first to go, not velocity. Maybe not reason for panic (except, you know, the sox are dead in the water without an effective Price), but plenty of reason for concern. With his contract and the state of the Sox rotation, his has to be great, or else.

Ortiz stunned thinking somebody is going to pitch around him for the second time this series.

Pedey is a selfish player now offensively the guy can't just hit the ball the other way once ? The guy grounds into more DPs than anyone in the league and if you haven't noticed ...his Defense has cost this team this year ..please trade the guy while he has any value at all .

He was hitting .305/.372/.446 coming into today. His defense has been more than fine. Dustin Pedroia is the least of our problems.
