Sometimes the team can do no wrong bringing in the likes of Kason Gabbard on the way to a championship and sometimes you bring ten different pitchers and they all pitch like Clay Buchholz. So is baseball. It really is remarkable how nearly every non-knuckleball starter on the MLB depth chart has hit their 10% projection this year. Porcello is having a solid year, while not spectacular. It's just that we have been throwing terrible pitchers out there in 40% of our games.

The Rays lost 11 in a row, you know these streaks will has come to an end. The Jays lost to the Rockies tonight (Lost 6 of their last 8) they're the only threat in the division IMHO. The Orioles? Their pitching is worst than ours and some of their players, Trumbo particulary, are playing way over their head and they'll come down to earth at some point. Eduardo Rodriguez came to us because he was slumping really bad with Bowie, the O's AA affiliate, with 4.79 ERA in 82.2 IP, part of that was pitch selection (They wanted him to use his breaking ball more) and part of it was that he started the season on the DL with with a knee injury. He'll be fine after 3 or 4 starts in AAA. We're hitting the soft part of our schedule, let's see what we have after that before panicking. PS: Just get rid of that dreadlocked clown playing 1st base. Good call on Toronto. Their rotation is in a very similar situation. Of their 5 SP, Estrada & Happ have been OK. Sanchez has to go to the pen due to innings availability. Dickey & Stroman have been lit up. Baltimore is playing out of their mind & also has SP problems. It's their offense that is carrying them, & as we know, that can't continue forever. I pictured some coolers & garbage cans being thrown around in that players "meeting" last night in the clubhouse.

Fantasy island was awesome!! But you seem to misunderstand my allotted players up for trade ...All the above should be on the block .I was giving you best case scenario with Miami falling out and the Redsox making a push for a trade ...and yes Miami would deal Fernandez in my opinion but like you pointed out it would have to be a mix of veteran and prospects .Devers ,Vaz,shaw,Owens ,Kelly ,Buch for Fernandez would get the ball rolling would it not ? No it would not.

Does porcello have the stuff to stop the bleeding tonight? As Remy said last night, these guys have to be knocked down a few times. They are way too comfortable in the box & are taking slow pitch softball swings.

With that late inning steal by TB last night, Porcello has to put the 1st hitter tonight on his rear end. I'm not suggesting he hits him (if he does, so be it) but knock him down. After the team meeting & all, I believe we're going to have a good game.

This team went from one of my favorites to watch, to unwatchable, really quickly.
Makes me sad.

You really think Miami would swoon over the players you mentioned? And the thing that you seem to misunderstand is: Why are the Marlins selling? Their record matches the Red Sox record, they're not trending downward, and they have as good a shot at making the playoffs as the Red Sox do? So why do you have them trading off Fernandez for an excellent prospect struggling in A ball, a catcher not hitting, a slumping 3b, and three starters having awful seasons who the Red Sox cannot turn to when their rotation desperately needs help? You think the Marlins would want that? No, I think they'll keep Fernandez and try to make the playoffs instead.

That is correct. I think if pitchers execute properly, then bean ball is not necessary. Yeah I agree with you. Sure you need to pitch inside but hitting someone or throwing at their heads is 1950s bully type baseball....for those who can't match up on the field of play. Maybe we should go in with spikes high too.. cut a few guys up. Good, hard baseball. We sure would look macho.....

Problem: our starting pitchers are sucking. Solution: give one of their hitters a free base.

Rays are the only AL East opponent where it's a tough choice between NESN and the other team's feed. I love to watch MASN and YES, and even Rogers isn't too bad.
Meanwhile, good hitting by Mookie, bad result unfortunately.

Porcello was determined to throw that 2-seamer over the inside corner for the K. Tried three times, finally got the result he wanted.

Mookie is angry at that particular section of wall out in left-center.

I'm glad Red Sox pitchers are once again allowed to not let opponents score in the first two innings.

Well it's nice that we aren't the only team that gives away runs on defense.
