You can't stop Didi, you can only hope to contain him.

Ugh. You just get the feeling that this one is over the way the offense looks tonight and the way Tanaka and the Yankees pen lines up. I hope the game stays close...I want to see the guys get after their excellent bullpen.

On the bright side, if the Yankees win, then they may not only end up with a worse draft pick next year, but they may also be deluded into competing a little bit longer, and may be too late to sell off some of their pieces.

Ellsbury is so amazing hitting those 18 bounce ground balls to right field along with the 200 foot popups to CF to get those hits and Price is so awful at giving them up.

I hope you don't mean that those hits were luck, because nearly every hit that Price gave up tonight was on a ball in the middle of the zone. It was only an okay performance I guess because the Yankees are awful.

Then again, Price always seems to pitch poorly against the Yankees every year, so maybe if it was another team Price would've pitched better. It's amazing to me how many times Price has pitched against opposing team's aces and almost always comes up short.

On the bright side, maybe the Yanks will go on a little run now and then doom themselves to mediocrity by refusing to sell.

Agreed, what amazed me tonight was how Price was mixing great pitches with terrible ones in the same AB like pretty much on every guy. Dude's just terribly inconsistent right now and IMO that explains a bit the difference between his ERA and his peripherals.

Yeah, it was exactly like last night with Rodriguez, but the only difference was the results, as usual.

Granted the offense went belly up today and that did not help.

Based on the hit disparity, I'm surprised we're only down 2 runs. Scoring 1 run on 3 hits with 2 walks in 8 innings will probably result in a loss no matter how well our pitcher does.

The last two innings all what the red sox batters had to do is just stand in the batters box. smh

This series shows why the way the Yankees built their team was both a) appealing, but b) stupid. When they are winning after six innings, their last three relievers are excellent. It is really hard for them to be beat when they are winning after six innings - it is a very helpless feeling, and also one that feels very "designed." You know? Like you can look at tonight's game and be all "this worked exactly as we intended!"
But focusing on three of the game's half-innings while sort of neglecting the other 15 just isn't the way to build a team. The Yankees are under .500 because they are spectacular at 3/18ths of a baseball game and below average at the other 15/18ths.

Wanted the sweep but not to be. Price's command is still off and Tanaka pitched a very good game, which the outstanding backend of the Yankees pen finished off.
Still we took the series and head home to start an important nine game homestand. Gotta keep winning series...
