You can't just ignore JF ruining Taz by clearly burning him out due to rampant overuse earlier in the season. So you want to do the same to Ziegler now? Since he was acquired, Ziegler has thrown 13.2 innings in about a month and a third. That prorates out to about 60 innings over the course of a full season. Ziegler has averaged more than 68 innings per season over the past four seasons-- he's good for it. Unlike, say, Tazawa, who has visibly worn down in most of his full seasons in the majors.

KRod now has three saves vs the Sox. If he gets another one I'm going to puke.

Yeah, Farrell doesn't know how to manage a bullpen well, but you can't ignore that these guys have just sucked at their job of getting batters out. Tazawa/Zeigler should be able to get three outs without completely blowing the game like that. Is it 100% his fault? It never is-- the players are the ones on the field, after all. But he is part of the problem, and this is part of a longstanding trend of bullpen mismanagement.

It's amusing that you guys rip on Farrell when he makes terrible decisions that lose us winnable games, but when we win games like last night where he didn't make a bad decision because he didn't have a chance to because the rain shortened the game, no one says a peep. So hypocritical.

I know it's super popular here to blame literally everything on Farrell, but can someone tell me how he lost this game for us? He brought in one of our best relievers in the 8th inning and he blew it. It sucks. But it has absolutely nothing to do with John Farrell

6 out of the last 26 games, the Sox have blown a lead in the 7th or later.

I don't like the term "Closer". No matter what, a "closer" pitches the 9th. I think Kimbrel should have been brought in in the 8th inning. Why save him for the 9th for the bottom of the order? Although he has been inconsistent this year, use your best relief pitcher if the highest leverage situation.

Relievers I would have trusted over Tazawa to start that inning: Robbie Ross Brad Ziegler Heath f'in Hembree Jonathan Papelbon Joe Kelly* *JK (just kidding)

Ziegler giving up a hit, a walk, and then another walk to a .220 hitter is blowing it, meaningless reliever stats notwithstanding.
