I knew that wasn't going to end well. I just knew it.

Good to see Bogaerts is enjoying the loss so much.
Amazing how this team can have good hitting and good pitching. But never at the same time.

What a joke of a manager. Another game we would have won without him.

Could have lived with a loss if Benintendi didn't get hurt. We could still take the next game, but Benintendi getting injured sucks.

Travis Shaw f***ep up everything tonight! Congrats "Mr I need playing time"! I mean I can't blame Shaw for wanting playing time. But hes been absolutely horrible to mediocre in all aspects of the game in the 2nd half, so he shouldn't be getting that time.

There is no one else to play at this time, so it's useless to complain about.

It's a shame to see such a talented team, the best in the league, continue to literally throw away games they should win. Instead of putting the game away in the 7th they don't score when given a golden opportunity, blow the game in the 8th and lose in little league fashion in the 11th. Stop me if you've heard this before.
That's why it's really hard to believe that they'll find a way to go on and win the World Series or AL Pennant. They just find too many ways to lose games they should win.
Whenever the game is close I expect them to blow it and am surprised when they don't.
At this point September will amount to open auditions in the bullpen. Kimbrel, Ziegler, and Ross are about the only sure things at this moment. Barnes will make the roster. Beyond that it's up in the air. At the moment I'd say two starters will wind up in the pen. They can audition the always promising yet disappointing Joe Kelly. Hembree didn't exactly cover himself in glory in this audition. Maybe Papelbon comes to his senses, if he has any. Maybe Koji comes back and shows something. Maybe Tazawa stops throwing batting practice. Abad is kind of a lost cause.
Their pen is a mess to put it kindly. This needs to get it sorted out.
Meanwhile, the bigger concern tonight is Benintendi. I hope it's only a mild sprain. A week or two without him is fine, but if he's out for the year...oh the curse of LF where everybody who plays it gets hurt.

This team lies awake at night thinking of new, creative ways to lose winnable games.
Oh well, go get 'em tomorrow. Still tied for 1st. Gonna be a tight race right to the end.

Bad loss, but I just can't get over how listless the team gets on offense. It seems like a complete lack of confidence when ever there's a scoring chance late in a game.
If the offense could get it going again the division race won't be close.

The thing that bugs me most is the Benintendi injury honestly. We've had so many losses like that this year im almost kind of numb to it.
I've been to 15 games this year (11-4 with a walkoff win) im just glad I havent been to any of these.

Yes, for being the top scoring offense in baseball, this lineup sure goes through stretches where it looks like they don't even have a pulse. The last two games being the most recent examples.

Still say on that replay that AB tore his ACL. The left knee buckled to the left. I just don't think the Red Sox would go out of their way to tell everyone it was just a left knee sprain if they were worried that it was a torn ACL. Makes no sense.

You wouldn't have written most of this if Farrell took Porcello out when he clearly should have. That plays into the losing the close games type of thing. It goes hand in hand with the bullpen mess. Farrell must have felt the way Grady Little did in Game 7. He couldn't trust his bullpen so he went down with his best. The only difference is that Timlin, Embree, and Williamson were actually doing the job lights out. I wouldn't say Ziegler, Ross, and Kimbrel are lights out, but given the circumstances I agree with you, I'd still have taken Porcello out after 7. And we'll keep on seeing more tactical decisions by Farrell that cost the Red Sox, so yes, the Red Sox have the managerial handicap as well, but he's not the reason they couldn't cash in runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. If they don't blow that, then maybe Farrell's blunder doesn't kill them. It would only make it a 4-3 or 5-3 game. There's enough blame to go around here.
