If Fernando Abad isn't even on Farrell's radar with the bullpen so depleted then he should absolutely not be on the team. He has only pitched in games that I had already turned off this year by the time he got into the game. I forgot he was on the team. I honestly just remembered him 15 seconds before I posted that. EDIT: I was trying to piece together why the bullpen seemed so shallow and it wasn't adding up, and then I remembered Abad.

Re Abad: sure seems like there is a GM/Manager disconnect/disagreement

Okay, Kimbrel is available and warming. Kimbrel should of been available. This is his job to do. Three days should be the limit for consecutive days to work in a row. The Sox could lose tomorrow or they could blow the other team out. Better for Kimbrel to go in now versus the unknown tomorrow. Don't want to Tazawa him. Kimbrel isn't exactly an iron horse. He throws over 20 pitches an inning almost every time.

Kimbrel is a very durable pitcher. He's only been on the DL once in his career. If managed correctly, October shouldn't be a problem, even on 3 days consecutively pitching at times in season earlier in the year...

If Fernando Abad isn't even on Farrell's radar with the bullpen so depleted then he should absolutely not be on the team. Kimbrel's availability today has nothing to do with tomorrow's game and everything to do with October. Part of the problem is that he sees Ross as a LOOGY, which gives them 3, with Abad being the worst. But even when Ross was on the DL to start the year, Scott was getting all the LOOGY spots, and Abad didnt see the mound for about the first 8 games.

I agree you gotta use Kimbrel, If this was a 3 run lead then sure, but cant **** around in a 1 run game.

He throws too many pitches to be used a lot.

Alright, I'll concede it - facing the top of the lineup with a 1-run lead - that's legit

Kimbrel has worked three straight days in April once before in his career, in 2011. He faced one batter, Buster Posey.

And this is 4 out of 5 days for him. If he nails this down I'll be impressed.

Please have someone up warming. I understand the skepticism after last year, but he has been great to start this season, and thats very different to a guy with no track record having a hot start. Lets have some confidence.

Pretty quietly, Kimbrel has been absolutely lights out these last 3 days.

Struck out the side. The correct move to bring him in.

Don't know how they took 3 out of 4, but they did

Kimbrel and Barnes will not be available in this game. Manual Kimbrel says otherwise

Very nice job by Kimbrel. And although not popular, the bullpen management was spot on today.
