Just noticed Benny Baseball got his avg over .300, whew crisis averted. I was starting to think we traded the wrong guy to Chicago.

Wright looked like he thinks he figured something out by looking at that conversation he had with Farrell in the dugout.

Nice clean inning from Wright. Would be nice for him to get in a groove and get two more innings in before handing it over to the bullpen.

Fun with Statcast: Fastest average pitch speed: 1. Joe Kelly'- four-seam fastball- 98.2 2. Tommy Kahnle - four-seam FB- 98.1 3. Craig Kimbrel- four-seam FB- 97.9 Wheres Chapman on the DL? According to Statcast the average velocity of his 4 seamer this year has been 96.3.

This year's version of the Red Sox is going to be (relatively) light on home run power but heavy on these kinds of rallies. They're among the league leaders in batting average, OBP and doubles and should continue to perform well in those categories. Unlike those cases though, the "hot hand" is also a positive defensively and the projected platoon partner is in the starting lineup because of an injury. Moreland could be hitting like usual-season Moreland and be (at least arguably) the right play given the configuration of the rest of the team. This isn't Daniel Nava on the bench for a worse hitter and defensive player because Farrell likes the cut of Gomes' jib. It's definitely not as egregious as Gomes, but there's at least an argument to be made that starting Selsky would be the better move here. Either way, let's just say that John Farrell is not a manager who runs strict platoons.

Wheres Chapman on the DL? According to Statcast the average velocity of his 4 seamer this year has been 96.3. It also shows 28 of his 54 four-seam fastballs are over 100. So something is wrong there.

That... doesn't seem like Chapman's approach. Is it possible that he throws his change so hard (he's historically 90-92 with it) that some are getting tabbed as four-seamers?

Kimbrel and Barnes will not be available in this game. What? This is news to me. Why wouldn't they be available? It would only be the third day of consecutively working in a row.

Maybe not Barnes because the Sox have Robbie Ross Jr and he's coming in now (along with Hembree) but Kimbrel should be coming in. He should be closing this game. I could see 4 days in a row but not three.

I was so ready to complain about Farrell leaving Wright to face the top of the order for the 4th time lol but he made the move, gotta give some credit for learning his lesson.

It is clearly Farrell's strategy to leave his starters in, late in starts, with the idea that one baserunner leads to a pitching change. I would much prefer he give his relief pitchers the opportunity to start with a clean inning...

I would much prefer he give his relief pitchers the opportunity to start with a clean inning... And fluke situations like this 'double' would be one reason why. Especially with this pen, inherited runners can be an issue, work with the relievers. C'mon Ross...

I would much prefer he give his relief pitchers the opportunity to start with a clean inning... Agreed. It feels like half the games this season so far he has brought the starter back out to start an inning with about 90-100 pitches, and just about every time, the leadoff man gets on and they go to the pen.

It's so dumb that Farrell thinks Robbie Ross Jr is only a lefty specialist. I don't know how I feel about Ben Taylor coming in here.

I like Ben Taylor here. If you can't macho your way out of this, you probably shouldn't be on the roster.

Having Ben Taylor in the highest-leverage moment in the game is probably not a great idea.

Wow so because its "only the 7th inning" he doesnt think this is a high leverage situation, the fact Ben Taylor is pitching right now is insane.

I think Farrell more or less played it correctly there; the process was right, the results unfortunately not
