Don't pitch Kimbrel. It isn't a save situation.

Not for nothing. But last year I recall some bizarre times when players tried to bunt. Same here. No way Beni should be bunting -- no way no way. What are they thinking? Glad that the cubs pulled out and displayed their inner Red Sox.

This is the Kimbrel version they traded for. I don't love the trade, but another year and 5/6ths of this and I'll be at peace with it.

Shout out to Kimbrel!!! Wasn't a fan last year. Lately he's been a beast.

Don't pitch Kimbrel. It isn't a save situation. Better with a 4-run lead in the 9th than a tie game in the 7th or 8th.

Got home just in time to see the Kimbrel inning, but nobody has better stuff than Craig in the majors. NOBODY.
Only maybe Chris Sale.

Suddenly they won't steal bases, it's like they're afraid of screwing up an inning.

Glad that the cubs pulled out and displayed their inner Red Sox. He was clearly trying to bunt for a hit, not to sacrifice a hit. It's much less egregious in that situation. One thing -- Beni should strive to be a doubles hitter. Not a bunt hitter. Therefore there was a guy on 2nd base. One of our top hitters on the team and someone who is hot going lefty vs rhp whom the pitcher is not that good anymore, and when you have a chance to knock a guy in, you should try to hit if you are as good as Beni is.
He looked to place a perfect bunt. You didn't see him bust out of the box. Anyhow, even though he's been hitting tremendous. IMO just a real bad decision just like last year's choices. Though I can't remember them- I can remember getting into arguments about the attempted bunts.
It's another point which Farrell aggravates me. Last year I thought there were awful bunt decisions (more than once). It's as if he says nothing. I'm concerned he doesn't. Because I thought it was awful yet again to try to bunt - and last year nothing was done for a while when they tried to bunt- I become more frustrated with Farrell. He should be telling his best hitters - "I don't want you bunting late in games or when you are hot unless I give you the sign." Beni needs to be RBI guy too.

You'd never know we won 2 of 3 against the defending champs.
It was a good, fun series.

I really like the way Rodriguez is throwing the ball lately, Graet movement, great arm action. Decent location. Tremendous follow through.
He seems to like throwing to Vazquez.

They've been a tandem for a while now. Vazquez probably has a very good feel for Rodriguez ' stuff, how we'll it's playing, and how to sequence the hitters. There's probably a high level of trust and it shows.

It's also worth noting that CV started all 3 games of the series.

I cringed the whole time, until I saw the second strikeout by Abad and laughed at how bad the Cubs were to chase Abad's junk. Not to mention that I saw Schwarber almost got a hold of one and fouled it off on the pitch before the second strikeout. Just really funny and good stuff.

It ain't easy to get on my list of all-time least favorite RS players but Joe K. is making a bid. Move over Lugo and Offerman. Can anyone remember a P who accomplished so little with so much raw stuff? Allen Webster.

Hanley has been absolutely ridiculous since about last July or August I knew he was great the second half of last season, but you made me curious. Since July 15th, 2016, he has 24 homers in 353 plate appearances, with a .263 iso. I knew he'd been hitting for power, but damn. glad to see my memory is at least somewhat accurate. I hope he keeps it up and that being a full-time DH only adds to his success.

Don't look now, but Eddie Rodriguez looks like he might be the 1a-caliber guy we were all hoping. it's been a delight watching him develop. one of the best trades the Sox have made.

I noticed Rodriguez fastball looked much better last night. He was sitting 94-96 most of the first three innings and then settled in at 94. Having command of the FB set up the other pitches and allowed him to K (8?). Nice outing especially since we are unsure of what Price will or will not do this year. Of course we need Wright to gobble up innings and not give up so many long balls.
