The Pomeranz trade is worse than the Kimbrel trade.

You know a trade is bad when you're hoping that the player you traded for is injured.

The Pomeranz trade is worse than the Kimbrel trade. Speaking of...if I heard correctly, heard someone offering the quite a few things had to not break favorably, for the Sox to be at a point to execute that trade, and not be open to reversing it... ...he then quickly ran off 7 or 8 different developments, none of which broke favorably, that led to the Pomeranz deal, but could only recall DPrice's unDP-like start; Clay; Owens not developing; Brian Johnson not available; ERod struggles...and 2-3 others I can't recall.

There a number of factors that lead up to a trade, and the final output can't be determined at the time. I didn't trash the trade at the time, because we were hoping for starting pitching to help last years club. Looking at it now, given AE's prospect status, we didn't maximize the return. If he eats up some innings and gets some quality starts, well that is the best we can hope for at this point, IMHO.

I wish there was a way to quantify the effect of Farrell leaving Pomerantz in for nearly 130 pitches last start.

Thought it was an aggressive play w two outs, to get into scoring position, where the defense executed well. (esp, as was noted, that JUp didn't play Pedroia's well) I was okay w that.

You know a trade is bad when you're hoping that the player you traded for is injured. What's the Padres excuse? What was Price told? That if he was younger they'd have recommended surgery. Anyway at the time of the trade, AE was a top 20 prospect.

I don't get Jackie trying to tag there with 1 out, Mookie scores if he's half way.

Man, that route Mahtook took was hellaciously bad.
Add: ...and a bad read by Mookie! Nice work by Pomeranz to escape the noose.

I don't get Jackie trying to tag there with 1 out, Mookie scores if he's half way. It seemed strange when they showed the video. What is the correct tactic in that situation. Isn't Mookie supposed to be near second and Bradley halfway? I never had much baseball training after little league.

Jackie played it like there were no outs.
