Overall you have to love the top 5 picks now. I love the mix of College and high school players.

Keith Law: 90. Jake Thompson, RHP School: Oregon State Thompson works in the low 90s with a big, upper-70s curveball and a rough delivery with no windup and late pronation that would be uncommon for a big league starter. Uncommon in a good way?

Anyone know why this is? Are there age-based rules that I'm not aware of regarding draft eligibility for college players?

Power arms. What a novel concept? Maybe, DD isn't quite as dumb as many genius's on here think.

I would expect mostly senior or below slot type players from here on.

This is the first year I've seen none of these guys, not even on TV or video, before the draft. I need to reset my priorities again.
Right after I win Powerball this weekend.

I would expect mostly senior or below slot type players from here on. Agree! We selected our one H.S. player today. I was looking at us drafting both Thompson and Scherff in the 3rd round. I expect late 3rd round money for both of them. We will see.

Uncommon in a good way? Context matters - I think the words immediately preceding "uncommon" answer that question for you.

All juniors should be given a signed photo of Mark Appel when deciding whether to sign or not.

I've basically been happy with half of the picks, underwhelmed by half, and am paying for none of them so whatever. I'm fine with riskier picks if they have higher ceilings. Not very many high ceiling guys in the system. A team doesn't have unlimited money to spend on draft picks these days. You can't select all high upside guys.

While insulting the intelligence of others. In the specific word used to pejoratively insult them. Hence irony. But let's not bring the good name of internet message boards down. That's pretty much my point, in referring to one of previous posters. If you like all the picks, you can't sign them. That said, I think we were underwhelmed by Brian Johnson and Marrero and Johnson signed at slot and Marrero significantly above. Looking at that 2012, that must have been first year of draft caps. I remember at the time thinking Sox just did a bad job planning and allocating, getting used to the system. They got better after that.

But teams don't learn, so maybe not.
