Thanks man, I'm frustrated too. I didn't mean to sound snippy. No worries. The commenting in those games thread is already terrible, no need for me to make it even worst lol Game threads are supposed to be emotional from my perspective. I do miss the guy who lived in Germany who got irate when people did not use advanced metrics. Haven't heard from him in a while. Was he banned? Of course, noone will ever top Godot. It semed like a hurricane hit every time he posted.

At least with this team, you know damn well what the game is going to be like in most cases by around the 3rd-4th inning. They seem to win the games they should win and lose the games they should lose with very few blown games. Not many comebacks either, but probably more of those than blown games.
That's how it feels anyway, though I could be completely wrong. I didn't verify stats.

That's how it feels anyway, though I could be completely wrong. I didn't verify stats. This is pretty much why I thought in the off-season that, minus Big Papi, they needed to add relatively high OPB (.350 or better) 35+ HR basher like Encarnacion. Of course, I assumed that with the weight loss and assault to his pride Pablo Sandoval would be at or just below career averages, and that without having to do time at 1st, Hanley would be the healthy Hanley we saw last year and come close to replicating that performance. Also, I had no idea that Moreland would be as productive as he'd been, but the second half looms and it will be interesting to see how his body and production hold up to playing nearly every day. All that said, what they seem to be missing offensively is that disrupter that was David Ortiz (there, I said it). That is, a true super star who, when he comes to the plate, everyone in the stadium knows at any given moment he could knock the ball out, or at the very least, 40+% of the time he's getting on base. There are guys here who can do that from time to time, but there is no true "disruptor" at this point. The line-up very good in general, but fragile enough so when you lose one very good piece - Xander, Mookie, Pedroia, Benintendi or Moreland at this point - it the replacement for that piece is a big drop off and just enough to weaken the entire chain offensively. And batting Mookie first continues to be moronic as he is probably the best chance of becoming some sort of disrupting force, not with as much pure power as Ortiz was, but just as much as a doubles threat, a threat to score once on the bases, and a very good home run threat. The lead-off guy should likely be one of Pedroia or Xander (if he didn't get broken last night).

I wonder what the Sox are going to do with Xander out probably until after the all-star break.
Is it time to call up Brock Holt and send down Sam Travis? Is Brock Holt ready to come off the DL yet?

Hitting on this team seems really catchy - if they start out hot, they get hotter. Getting behind early seems to lead to less patient at bats. But - just impressions, which of course can be really flawed.

I will add that Ramos makes Tampa a dangerous team. They can score and pitch. The only question they have is in the bullpen. This team has the potential to give the Sox major headaches down the stretch, more so then the Yankees imo.

As it pertains to the 10-day DL, is it literally 10 days, or is it 10 games? If the former, I don't see why we wouldn't put Bogaerts on the DL to call up another arm or utility type. The timing of the All-Star Break would make such a scenario ideal.

Without a doubt, we need another infielder for the next 3 games if Xander can't play and I wouldn't be surprised if he couldn't. There's no way that Holt could be ready though. He's been out way too long and they need to take it really easy on him.

If Xander can't play the call up will likely be...
Pablo Sandoval

If Xander can't play the call up will likely be... Pablo Sandoval No way. They'll keep him down on rehab for as long as possible and then he'll probably pull a hamstring.

The Sox will be lucky to keep up with the Rays scoring this series with Xander out. It doesn't look good.

Lol the next play the Rays hit into their worst double play of their year probably and the Sox score 4 the next half inning.
