Varitek should be the next manager. I agree but Varitek has said he doesn't want to manage yet because he wants to see his kids grow up. Money could change that line of thinking though.

It would suck. But the silver lining is John Farrell will be fired. Which in turn is addition by subtraction. There's no silver lining, it would just be terrible. Farrell could be fired if the Red Sox reached the playoffs and lost to a good team. If they don't even make the playoffs on an epic colapse, there's nothing good that could come from it that would offer any comfort to the awful scenario. It's exactly this kind of thinking that drove the best manager in the league out of this town. actually, that was Larry Lucchino who did that. Then he drove out the best GM. Then named a new GM who turned out to be among the worst in the league. And then he brought in Valentine. Then Farrell, who proved to be no different than he was in Toronto but who had better talent. Within a year after all of this, Lucchino got pushed out of the ownership group, a process that took til nearly mid 2015.

Anyone think Barnes deserves a playoff spot?
I don't care that Carson Smith is throwing in the low 90's with his fastball, he still can't be any worse than Barnes.

Varitek should be the next manager. Alex cora DiSarcina would be the most rational and logical option, but Alex Core is such an awesome human being that I can't disagree with that suggestion.

I don't know if it was the NESN noise level, but once Porcello dug the hole, it seemed like you could hear a pin drop all night.

Matt Barnes won't be on the playoff roster and he won't be on this team next year. It is striking how other teams hit bombs and we don't. It is the most glaring problem on this team.

Listening to DiNardo - "they've been so good all season - maybe they are tired - I don't know"
All teams are tired right now, Lenny.

Sox pitching has given up 24 runs in their last 3 games. This has been (putridly) supported by 7 runs over the same period.
