Imagine the horror of having to go to Maddox for meaningless innings instead of Boyer so that we could be playing Brentz over Young.

Mookie swinging and missing at pitches in the dirt. Hanley doesn't have a sacrifice fly all season. Xander is hurt, maybe that's his excuse. Chris Young isn't hitting at all, neither is Holt. Chilli Davis should be gone this off-season along with the entire coaching staff, especially if they somehow manage to blow this division lead. I think Farrell will be gone if this team implodes, but he should also be gone even if they don't, given Dombrowski's criteria for a good manager: "I do not feel that in-game strategy is the biggest thing as a manager," Dombrowski said. "I think it's important. But there's other things that are probably more important. As I've often told managers, to me the most important thing for a manager is that their club plays up to their capabilities day in and day out, which means that they're communicating with their players and they're getting everything that they can and that means their club's playing hard. "

Funny, they could even replace Boyer with Kyle Martin or Ben Taylor or both. I understand the hesitation to remove the guys with options from the 40-man, but Boyer is 34 years old and a free agent this winter. There is no possible way that he could add anything over what they already have in meaningless innings with a packed September bullpen.
Does anyone have any explanation whatsoever about why Boyer is still on the 40 man?
Why doesn't Alex Speier bring it up and absent of that, why didn't anyone ask him? Brentz has 31 HR this year and Young is awful!

Only good news is if we blow this, like we are currently on the verge of doing, John Farrell will be fired.
This is 2011-esque right now.

I'm blaming whoever made the decision. I'm sure Farrell and DD talk, but I don't know what the process is there. Some reporter needs to ask them exactly what I just asked.

The team really came out of that bad NY series with a serious hangover.
3 of tonight's 8 hits from Travis and Marrero. Nunez looks good.
But Mookie, Hanley, Xander, Young, Benny a combined 2-16. Got to do better than that against a lefty pitcher.

It would suck. But the silver lining is John Farrell will be fired. Which in turn is addition by subtraction.

Plenty of time to talk about that in the offseason. For now, I hope they win a WS with John Farrell. Ya know, because I'm a Red Sox fan and I'd rather that they win instead of lose like normal fans.

It would suck. But the silver lining is John Farrell will be fired. Which in turn is addition by subtraction. There's no silver lining, it would just be terrible. Farrell could be fired if the Red Sox reached the playoffs and lost to a good team. If they don't even make the playoffs on an epic colapse, there's nothing good that could come from it that would offer any comfort to the awful scenario. It's exactly this kind of thinking that drove the best manager in the league out of this town.

I'm just looking for silver linings, cause it still makes me sick that we kept this buffoon in the dugout and let our best manager go take the Arizona Diamondbacks into immediate contention.
