And that should do it with this offense.

this is all very hard to take. Barney can't hit. It is inexcusable what is going on. These pitches are in the middle of the plate.

Doesn't matter with Rick giving up the bomb. But it was.

Time to ditch that god damn 4 seam fastball Porcello. I have no idea what the f*** Red Sox catchers, pitching coaches and Porcello are thinking. It's not going to work next time either.
I don't think he threw one sinker in this entire game.

Two more of these and the Sox will be fighting for the Wild Card.

and btw, that 2 hr game? both home runs came off a righty (Mike Pelfrey), then Farrell benched him for the next 4 days and his next start was against a lefty. Lets not act like he's a righties masher though, honestly what he does against them doesnt even matter as he should never start against any RHP anyway. What matter is that he's not doing his one job, which is to hit LHPs, so he shouldnt get any playing time at all. he's OPSing .817 against RHP this year in 144 plate appearances

the catcher visits have to stop. Amen. It slows the game down a ton. If if you made me king of the universe, I'd severely limit visits by both the catcher and the pitching coach. I'm not sure precisely the best way, but maybe you could make the catcher get the specific consent from the umpire. For example he gives the signs and the pitcher is clueless about what the catcher wants him to throw. He turns to the ump and says, "I gotta go tell him, he forgot we changed the indicator". The ump may or may not allow him to go but the rules emphasis directs the umpire to limit visits as much as possible. For catchers that try to "work" the umpire, he warns them that he will issue a ball if the catcher repeatedly requests mound visits the umpire thinks are unwarranted. Pitching coach visits, I'd completely get rid of them.

He's a well below replacement level player and there's no possible way that Brentz could be worse. And a great chance he could be better.

Maybe he's seeing the ball better off righties this year for whatever reason. And I'd be fine with Brentz, I just don't like seeing Farrell continuing to run Young out there against lefties just because generally right handed batters are better against left handed pitchers.

This team has no more rabbits nor hats to pull them out of.
I was nervous in July that they'd even make the playoffs. I'm nervous again.

Mookie swinging and missing at pitches in the dirt. Hanley doesn't have a sacrifice fly all season. Xander is hurt, maybe that's his excuse. Chris Young isn't hitting at all, neither is Holt.
Chilli Davis should be gone this off-season along with the entire coaching staff, especially if they somehow manage to blow this division lead.

This team has no more rabbits nor hats to pull them out of. I was nervous in July that they'd even make the playoffs. I'm nervous again. we are long time fans. we have seen the collapses, going back to the 70's. Other guys on this site have seen it for even longer. Don't be alarmed. We are going to make the playoffs and we are going to likely win the division. Being a fan of this franchise comes with neurotic tendencies built on the years of suffering. I don't see it with this team. We got real grinders on the team. Sale, Pedey, Nunez, Vasquez. it is just rough patch. We are going to pull through. add: to clarify...this isn't your father's Red Sox. We buried those guys years ago. (2011 was an outlier)
