Wow - per Alex Speier - Hanley has not a single Sac Fly this year? Interesting discussion - team's trouble against lefties, the mystery that is Hanley. I didn't realize how uncommon SFs are. Mike Trout only has 3 this year, and same for Bryce Harper.

Xander is still grounding out to SS weakly. It's gotta be in his approach. What's Chili Davis doing? If you're listening to the game, Speier has basically said that both of his hands and wrists are hurt pretty badly.

I don't give a rats arse what fans think. If "benching" mookie can get him fixed for the playoffs I'm all for it. Because with mookie and X hitting like like pitchers we won't win one game in the postseason There's no guarantee that it would help. And the downgrade in defense is absolutely huge. So. We would lose 2-0 instead of 4-0? Defense only goes so far.

At this point I don't have too much faith in Porcello in a playoff start. Way too many hits and homers allowed. Even though the losses have slowed down and he's had times of being decent this year, he really hasn't had any grooves that make you think he's going to be effective. The one thing he has maintained for the most part is lasting 6 innings even if he's giving up 4 runs.
At this moment Fister looks like the #3 ahead of Porcello which is a surprising thought.

Farrell refusing to acknowledge Young's reverse splits this year is really hurting the team.

Deven Marrero is this GM´s idea of bringing up help vs LHP from the minors.

it hurts to feel like our chief competitors are gaining on us and we are running in place, but that feeling is only stretch of time in the baseball season. The worm will turn. That's the benefit of a 5.5 game lead in September.

Farrell refusing to acknowledge Young's reverse splits this year is really hurting the team. it feels like Chris Young hasn't had a good at bat since April.

I agree that it's Dombrowski's decision on whether or not to bring up Brentz. I just don't think Farrell would use him over Chris Young. If JF wanted Brentz, I would think Dombrowski would find a way to call him up.

They absolutely need 12 guys in the bullpen. I mean the difference between Boyer and Maddox could decide whether they make the playoffs or not, especially given the fact that neither of them will pitch a single high or medium leverage inning. RH Craig Kimbrel RH Addison Reed RH Brandon Workman RH Joe Kelly RH Matt Barnes RH Heath Hembree LH Robby Scott RH Blaine Boyer LH Fernando Abad RH Austin Maddox LH Roenis Elias RH Hector Velazquez

Lets not act like he's a righties masher though, honestly what he does against them doesnt even matter as he should never start against any RHP anyway. What matter is that he's not doing his one job, which is to hit LHPs, so he shouldnt get any playing time at all.
