CVaz is a totally different hitter. He definitely has a brighter future with that kind of bat. At some point, it's not just BABIP. He should start getting more starts but I get the pitcher familiarity thing.

Hey gang - watched 2 episodes of Homeland with my wife (with one eye on this game on my laptop) - no drama night...which is good.
And now the Yankees game is tied.

Maddox is proving to be a really competent, live arm. All business - gets the ball and slings it - doesn't walk people. Kelly, Barnes, Hembree - watch him do it!.

I'd it time to dream up an all "Chase" team? We've got Utley, Headley, Whitley, d'Arnaud...

Utley is dirty. ADD: There are some plays that will always be etched in my mind. Marichal hitting Roseboro with a bat. Clemens throwing a broken bat at a runner. Rose's taking out Fosse in an exhibition game and Utley's slide against the Mets.

Back in the '60s, playing wiffle ball w my 3 brothers, and/or rest of kids in the neighborhood, in a yard that seemed bigger than it probably was, surrounded by hedges, all around, and the ball off/through the one oak tree, was in play if it didn't touch the ground, we would often play as MLB teams and/or Red Sox, and I recall those late 60s teams had some great hitters to mimic
(Yaz of course was always a fave of everyone's, to do...mine was Reggie, as I could switch hit, having been coached up, in my 1st Farm League LL team, sponsored by the local McDonalds - free soda, fries, and sandwich, after games - as a 7yo, by my 1st manager, Coach Lewis, to hit LH, after I was brought on board as a fast, LH throwing RH hitter)
...this team does, too. I wonder if I could still hit one over the hedges, across Second Av, and on Mrs. Evans' roof across the street, for that auto-HR!

We had an automatic three outs if you hit the ball into my neighbors yard. He had a fenced in yard with a big German Shepherd guard dog. It took forever to distract the dog to get the ball back and you had to be fast.
