Altuve has more power than any of them, though - he had an Iso over .200. He's like a funky three-foot tall Tony Gwynn/Joe Morgan hybrid.

I'm not worried if I'm the Astros about Verlander in game 6. He'll have a extra day's rest by that point with the two travel days mixed between. Not only that, but this series will be lucky to go 6 games at this rate.
The Astros have won 2 games against the Yankees *without* having their offense go off yet. That's pretty deflating if you're a Yankees fan, you're favorite team is getting outpitched just by a little and that's supposed to be where the Yankees *might* have a edge (especially in the bullpen).
I almost expect the Astros offense to go off like fireworks against C.C. and Gray.

A little late but that was a Red Soxian send there lol I'm so glad Sanchez is a terrible defender. Very good series thus far, but I'm still disappointed we didn't get that Indians/Astros battle royale.

I know Torey Lovullo gets a lot flack around here for being the greatest manager the Sox should of kept, but look at Dave Roberts.
Pulls Kershaw in a game where he obviously doesn't have his best stuff. Roberts pulled him after 5 innings before he got to the middle of the order for the third time.
Roberts turned a complete negative in Puig off the field and settled him into a really nice regular position player who isn't making a fool of himself anymore.
He can handle big personalities, he can manage a bullpen, he's simply one of the best managers in the game. He would of been perefect for this job, but no need to bring it up now.
I hope Cora (or the next manager of the Sox) has a lot of the same qualities that Roberts has.

I almost expect the Astros offense to go off like fireworks against C.C. and Gray.Perhaps, but Peacock and Morton didn't exactly impress in the ALDS against the Red Sox, and the Yankees have a better offense than the Red Sox and the Astros' bullpen has yet to really be exposed as Keuchel and Verlander have minimized their impact thus far. The Astros will have their hands full at Yankee Stadium. The series isn't over yet, although I'd be thrilled with the prospect of a Yankee free World Series to enjoy.

It will be a little embarrassing if Judge wins the MVP over Altuve if you've watched the playoffs to this point. Not that it is a post season related award my any means but the recency bias would make it look the a poor choice. Well if we are to consider postseason performances as "clutch" performances, then his struggles have been consistent with the regular season. I don't expect voters to know this necessarily, or to factor in their decision-making, but Judge had a historically awful season regarding clutch performances.

I was just browsing through some Astros regular season stats to see how guys like Gonzalez, Reddick, and Gurriel handled themselves (the answer is unbelievably well). One thing I noticed -- the Astros had 11 guys this year with 12+ HR!

One thing I noticed -- the Astros had 11 guys this year with 12+ HR! I was about to come on here and note that their home park is HR friendly (or it at least used to be), but (a) apparently it's not anymore (BA gave it a 40 for HR friendliness on the 20-80 scale) and (b) they hit more HR on the road... Hell of a lineup.

Unless he's planning to use Strop for more than one inning, I don't really get double switching there. Just leave Heyward out in right for defense, then pinch hit Zobrist for Strop in the eighth.
EDIT: He did not use Strop for an extra inning.
Maddon is pretty overrated.

Going to John Lackey with two outs in the ninth and a runner on second seems strange in a universe where Wade Davis exists. But then again, John Lackey is always the correct move.

Did this team really lose 16 of 17 down the stretch this year?

Yeah but you’re forgetting that game management isn’t important as long as you wear wacky outfits and drink wine during press conferences.

It seems to me that Sabathia benefits from a bigger strike zone that any other pitcher in baseball.

Charlie Morton is probably what Joe Kelly will turn out like, finally figuring it out at age 33.

58 mph single, 74 mph single, 365 foot HR all with 2 outs.

58 mph single, 74 mph single, 365 foot HR all with 2 outs. unfortunate, but I am most concerned with how the MFY starting pitching is owning the Astros. It it starting to make me think that our guys either ran into an incredible amount of SSS bad luck or our game plan by the staff was as easy a read as a children's book. Alternatively, our signs were stolen at an alarming rate, or our advanced scouting was bunk.

Frazier's HR had a 6% probability. Bird's 2B had a 4% probability. What souls do they have left to sell?
Then Bird scores on an infield hit.
And then Judge hits a 371 foot 3 run HR with 2 outs.

Yeah, the Yankees really have caught ever break in this game (other than in the strike zone - it's actually been really tight on Sabathia). Three infield hits and that absurd Frazier home run. The defensive positioning has been been incredibly unlucky for the Astros - there are at least four hits that easily could've been outs, and the Gregorius ground out could've been a double play with any luck.
