At this pitch count, it’s unlikely Pomeranz completes even four innings. At this rate, he looks like he isn't getting past the first inning.

88-89 mph - he's not getting squeezed - in fact I thought blue was giving him corners

Dangit. I knew this too. My bad. Might (partially) explain why they kept Velasquez and optioned Walden. If Pomeranz really struggles, HV is definitely the better pitcher, and more stretched out of you need him in the 2nd/3rd instead of the 6th. I recall the reports on Pomeranz were kind of shaky after his 2 rehab starts. It might have been nice to give him another rehab start or 2. However, with NE weather being what it is right now, getting a start on the warmer west coast is nice. Hopefully that helps. I'm sure the front office talked about how he looked and his health and agreed he was ready. As I was saying . . .

Jesus Vazquez is having a garbage inning behind the plate this inning.

Really don't understand the big rush to get Pomeranz up. He can't be effective with an 88mph fastball. He's not a control artist.

Maybe this season we get good Porcello and bad Pomeranz? (just kidding - tiny sample size for Drew, and he looks totally unready...should have given him a few more minor starts - what's the rush?)

I request a mulligan on that first inning. Can we just say it is 0-0 and put Velazquez out for the second inning?

The average cost in runs of the Vazquez passed ball is 0.5. The other 1.5 unearned runs ought to be on Pomeranz.
BP used to adjust for earned runs that way (using Run Expectancy) but, as far as I can tell, stopped doing so.

Sooner or later, Cora is going to need to drop Moreland down in the lineup. He isn't a cleanup hitter Cora.

I request a mulligan on that first inning. Can we just say it is 0-0 and put Velazquez out for the second inning? I request a mulligan for this spring. I haven't had a chance to even ask for mulligan and it is almost May, for crying out loud.
