This team is nothing without Steve Pearce.

Roark is falling apart here. Keep building a lead here. He wants to but the Sox won't let him. I stand corrected.

I wonder how deep they want/expect Johnson to go now that it’s a blowout.

So Nunez has the three run home run, which is great. He also has two GIDPs, which is not so great.

I wonder how deep they want/expect Johnson to go now that it’s a blowout. Cora said the target is to get 5 innings tonight from Johnson. Cuevas might see some action later in the game now that it's a blowout.

Sox look to be ready to chase the refugee from the 70s back through the time warp.

I don't understand why they didn't PH for Hembree. It's not like Swihart couldn't use the practice and Cuevas is there.

Time to double switch Swihart in RF and put in Workman. Give JD the rest of the night off.

It's not inconceivable that the Nationals could be sellers by the trade deadline. After tonight's loss, they will be a .500 team and will be looking up at 4 or 5 teams in the wild card race.
Tim Collins is a guy making no money this year (league minimum) and he's a really good lefty that throws hard. He's a guy that really interests me come trade deadline.

Wow, a monster HR by JDM. 440 ft with a 110 mph exit velocity. Huge bomb to LF.

Yesterday, Bradford said Thornburg would be called up during the Nats series. So, likely after the game Cuevas back down, Thornburg up.

All Workman does is come in and put up zeros. Not the first time I've said this, but so happy for him and hope he can stick for the rest of the season.

Great game. The Sox were able to start Johnson who was getting hit around and were able to piece the game together without having to resort to their high leverage relievers and win with ease.
This is the Brandon Workman I like. If he can maintain his velocity, he's a guy I'd like to see on the post-season roster. He just can't have a season ending like he had last year when it looked like he was a shoo-in for a roster spot and he had an awful September.
I wonder if what happened last year can be chalked up to fatigue after being away for such a long time? Hopefully that's something that can be avoided this time.
Pearce did a nice job filling in. He was a nice pickup. And JDM was JDM. X-man had a nice shot. Didn't understand Nunez getting the start over Holt, but it certainly worked out.
I wish there were more questions given to Cora about why he chooses the 2b matchups that he does rather than going with a straight-out platoon. Guess it's more fun for reporters to talk about David Price instead?

How about some kudos for Mitch Moreland. When healthy his OPS is well into the 800's with the Sox and he gets paid dirt. Sox spend big on Pablo and Hanley and get very little in return while the cheap pick up keeps producing with little credit. I really liked that signing this off season.
