Pearce’s presence really changes the feel of this offense. While the guy isn’t a slick glove, he does provide for some nice flexibility. Hopefully, that’s the type of fill-in move DD makes in July. No big splashes at the cost of further thinning the farm’s finest crops.
*Apologies if my crop-to-human allusion offended anyone.

I’m pretty anxious to see what he can provide. I think the pen could take care of itself before July 31 but that’s with Thornburg, Pomeranz and Wright getting healthy.

Given the state of the Sox farm system at this point, I'm surprised that the word "finest" is anywhere to be seen in conjunction with it, regardless of the context.

How about some kudos for Mitch Moreland. When healthy his OPS is well into the 800's with the Sox and he gets paid dirt. Sox spend big on Pablo and Hanley and get very little in return while the cheap pick up keeps producing with little credit. I really liked that signing this off season. I wouldn't mind getting paid that kind of dirt, but yeah, your point stands. I wasn't too keen on bringing him back, but there's no denying he's played well. I would worry about overexposure for him and that his numbers start declining to career levels, but that's why I think that the Pearce acquisition is so important. Pearce limits that overexposure and I think if spotted correctly as Cora has does, Moreland could very well have his career year this year. And it's needed because the Sox need a strong lefty bat in the middle of the order and Devers isn't consistent enough yet. Moreland has provided that strong bat, so yes, kudos to Mitch Moreland.

Great game. The Sox were able to start Johnson who was getting hit around and were able to piece the game together without having to resort to their high leverage relievers and win with ease. This is the Brandon Workman I like. If he can maintain his velocity, he's a guy I'd like to see on the post-season roster. He just can't have a season ending like he had last year when it looked like he was a shoo-in for a roster spot and he had an awful September. I wonder if what happened last year can be chalked up to fatigue after being away for such a long time? Hopefully that's something that can be avoided this time. Pearce did a nice job filling in. He was a nice pickup. And JDM was JDM. X-man had a nice shot. Didn't understand Nunez getting the start over Holt, but it certainly worked out. I wish there were more questions given to Cora about why he chooses the 2b matchups that he does rather than going with a straight-out platoon. Guess it's more fun for reporters to talk about David Price instead? Neither Holt nor Nunez has any kind of significant split, so it's probably based on individual pitcher/batter matchups. In fact, Holt has a bit of a reverse split, especially this season.

Cora and his resting practices leave a lot to be desired. Why rest two of the youngest and best players on the team on the same day?

I'm almost surprised he doesn't get asked. You'd think a reporter would have interest in wondering about what goes into that decision. It's a lot more interesting to me than hearing more David Price controversy.

Happy 4th of July! A sweep would be an excellent way to add to the celebration. To those of you who don’t happen to be US citizens, well...happy 4th of July.

I understand that war takes a lot of things into consideration and one of them is defensive position but JD is having close to a triple crown season and his war is 3.5 and there are 11 players ahead of him. That is crazy, to me.

ERod sure is dealing today, but it's hard to tell if anyone on the field is awake yet.

Is the worm turning for ERod ? We can only hope. He's really done a good job limiting walks as well as limiting waste pitches. He has enough pitches to easily make it through the 6th if he can get through the heart of the order.

Another great inning for E-rod. I never thought he'd be able to see the 7th in any game. I also didn't think we'd have a shot at this game while resting both Bogey and Benintendi.

Good job by Bradley. I'd pinch hit Benny for Vasquez though with a guy on 3rd one out.
