They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules (link). 2 interesting pitching matchups. Velasquez has been on a role for Philly. Eovaldi was on a role for the Sox until his last start.

Britton melting down again

Britton melting down again 4 baserunners in one inning allowing a run. At this point, you might feel bad for Britton. You know the New York media and fans are already hounding him and booing him constantly. Most New York fans would boo their dead grandmothers, so that's no surprise.

To be fair to Britton, almost all of that was ground balls. He gave up one hit on a line drive, and he wasn't helped by an error by Torres on the transfer that brought in the run, and a (albeit really hard) grounder that ate up Didi. There was another grounder that Didi didn't do anything with but at least blocked to prevent another run from scoring.

The lead is 10 games before the series even starts. The division race could be sealed by the second week of September, maybe even sooner. What a season.

You can't capture only the video from a twitter source. Thanks a lot. I'm low-tech. Sometimes i post it right and sometimes i have no clue why it will not post. Thanks again, for the advice on how to do it too.

Yankees lose to the Mets at home. LOL I came into the room and went to ESPN to check the score, and saw there was a "Watch" button (I'd forgotten they had the game). I clicked on it and saw a single pitch. Game over!
That's efficiency, baby.
When was the last time we had a 10-game lead on the Yankees in a season where we trailed them as late as June 26, or were tied as late as July 1? Since the latter date, we're 29-6 (.829) and they're 20-17 (.541).
Our 29-6 is deceptive though, because half of those losses came in a five-game span.
What has to be killing Yankees fans is that, aside from the sweep, they've only last 2 games in a row once.
MFY record by starting pitcher in this stretch:
5-2 Sabathia 3-4 Severino 2-4 Tanaka 3-2 Gray 2-2 German 2-0 Happ 2-0 Lynn 1-1 Cessa 0-1 Loaisiga 0-1 Adams
Starter for Sabathia's next turn (Friday) is "Undecided."
The Sox:
6-0 Price 6-0 Rodriguez (3) and Eovaldi (3)
5-0 Sale 5-2 Porcello 4-2 Johnson
2-0 Velazquez 1-2 Pomeranz

Sabathia injured himself trying to throw to first base awkwardly on a swinging bunt. May or may not have to go to the DL. He's been placed on the DL. Interestingly, the swinging bunt was the only hit he allowed in six innings.

This team is incredibly deep. Kinsler and Swigart are ready to comeback. E-Rod and Vazquez soon after. Sept callups are almost here too. Here’s the pen on Sept 1 Kimbrel Barnes Kelly Brasier Pomeranz Brian Johnson Hembree Workman Velazquez Poyner Scott
Behind a rotation of; Sale, Price, Porcello, Eovaldi and E-Rod. This team will win 110 games easily

Both lead the league in strikeouts? You got it. The overlap is 2, in case anyone was wondering. Moncada went 0 for 3 with 2K against Sale on June 8th. The offense hadn't had enough popsicles so Sale was loser in a 1-0 game.

Cashman got burned. He made the move to keep him away from the Sox getting Britton. He did us a favor so far.
