Velazquez is actually just a bad pitcher Well, the last three runs were scored on ground balls, one of which should have been a fairly routine play. Im glad he’s on the roster to start games until Sale and ERod are back.

you don't often see 6 straight singles, some really bad luck there.

When every ground ball is a single, there's nothing anyone can do. And the inning should have been over 5 runs ago.

This is a tough one for Velazquez— hard to blame him for a bunch of grounders. Still, this is the type of performance that strikes me as demonstrating why he has no place on the post-season roster. He isn’t going to start; he isn’t a short guy; and his stuff is mostly inning-eater, something you need over 162 games but not in a short series.

That may be true, but he filled a role, and did it quite well.

I bet he's the best 9th starter in the league.

No more resting Sale. Make it a 6 man rotation next month.

No more resting Sale. Make it a 6 man rotation next month. We still need him 1000 times more in October than in September.

Velazquez might not even make Dmaineah’s playoff roster now.

Odd how Beeks seems to have the kind of stuff that gives lots of our hitters issues.

Odd how Beeks seems to have the kind of stuff that gives lots of our hitters issues. he can get his fastball up to 93-94 mph, has deception with his motion. a cutter, a curve, etc....he has the repertoire to have big league success.

Credit where credit is due: Pomeranz did his job tonight, and did it fairly well... Saved the bullpen for tomorrow while the boys suffer an uncharacteristic beatdown.
Before anybody jumps me, I'm not advocating a place on the playoff roster or anything.

I really like the way Swihart handles the bat.
