crappy luck that inning - 2 line drive outs, and Jackie's drive caught at the wall

Porcello making me look like an idiot, which granted, isn't hard to do.

Porcello just hasn't had his great command for a while now...all over the place, mostly inside the strikezone (but sometimes outside it). He missed his spot by a foot on Suzuki's homer.

Yeah, glad it wasn't a fastball. I was almost freaking out that they were going to let him stay in because he didn't look like he was completely present in that conversation with the trainer.

Lyons hit the nail on the head. Nunez’s massive 94 wRC+ in the second half paired with his abysmal glove should certainly mean he starts over Devers in the playoffs.

I guess this is *one time* we can complain about the offense this season.

Well, if the Sox completely waste this loaded/0 outs opportunity, we can't say a lot about the offense's quality.
This joy ride that the team has been on all season has turned into a much harder slog recently.

That was a horrific squander. I was watching with my young son and told him if the first guy makes an out in that situation the next two will be quick to follow and sure enough....

also we have 3 catchers now and a huge bench...that would not have been a bad spot to pinch hit for Leon, tbh

also we have 3 catchers now and a huge bench...that would not have been a bad spot to pinch hit for Leon, tbh I was thinking about that, too. With Porcello's pitch count already getting up there, it's not like his need to have Leon Catch was a big issue, either. The problem with that, though, is we don't really have RH bats available off the bench tonight. Benny, Holt, Swihart, Devers. Not sure there was anyone worth making the move for against a LHP. The better question would be if Leon had walked, do you consider taking Porcello out to try to get a big inning?

love to start an inning with 2 likely outs because national league baseball Yeah, gotta hate having that boat anchor Porcello with his 1.143 OPS come to the dish. I truly don't understand how people cannot find NL ball MUCH more interesting. So much more strategy in play. I know it will never ever happen, but I'd love to see the DH abolished (now that Papi is retired, of course).

In fact, the offense suffers and it becomes unwatchable. Porcello is a complete outlier in this case in very SSS.
