If they are going to shake up this team and do something like DFA'ing Swihart..... they better make more changes than just that one. I can see him going to NYY and being a Star

There are only two real explanations for this move. Either Swihart did something worthy of them just dumping him or the pitching staff basically said we'd be far better with Sandy catching. Outside of that, it makes zero sense to do that now vs. a month ago. Not that he had a ton of trade value then, but maybe you get a flier from someone. Agree. this must be an off field issue, otherwise it’s a foolish move,, in my humble opinion.

HORRIBLE move. If you really wanted Leon back up, DFA Vazquez. Swihart is still young, hasn’t even had a chance to win the starting job, and catchers typically breakout late. Vazquez and Leon can’t hit little league pitchers so if you really need one of them behind the plate just get rid of Christian

Leon would be a better person for Swihart to learn from as well. Christian also probably has some trade value... maybe a 7th inning BP arm

either way, Sale has his caddy, and Sandy will probably start tonight.

Even IF Leon fixed the rotation back to last year results (nope... since CV got all the playoff reps).... it is STILL the wrong move. CV would be the one to go. I would have phantom DL'd Swihart first to see how Leon impacted the rotation for 2 turns (10 day DL)

Good for Swihart for finally getting away from us. I’m going to hold judgment and see what type of return Dom can get.

WTF is this team doing? It's like they have no plan. You could have made a ton of moves that made more sense than this one. Like why keep him if you wouldn't even give him more than two weeks? Swihart isn't this teams issue, far from it!
This has Cora's name all over it, just like Hanley last year. The only difference being that move made sense, this one doesn't. Maybe Cora should try not starting weak hitting catchers at 2B, that would help more! WOW sad day, he was just never given a chance!

How does Swihart get blamed when Vazquez did the majority of the catching?
What's better than a AAAA catcher that can't hit? Having TWO AAAA catchers that can't hit. Hopefully they'll give Leon a police escort to NY.

I really hope he leaves and lives up to all his potential and more, preferably with a rival.

There's real evidence this guy CANNOT hit in the majors. He isn't fixing Sale's velocity or Eovaldi suddenly reverting to a walk machine. Was Swihart the one who called "Throw it right down the middle to Chris Davis, Rick!"

Dombrowski must be collaborating with LaRussa and Wren for advice too much. Still can't believe those two have prominent roles in this organization, they are always sitting next to DD during games.

At this point I'm glad he got DFA'd. I've been rooting for this guy so hard his entire career and watched the Sox do seemingly everything they can to prevent him from succeeding.
I hope he gets picked up by a team that puts him in a great position to succeed and he just absolutely mashes.

The most Red Sox thing to happen would be for the Red Sox to throw a shutout, win a couple of games and have him get 1 big hit so that it will hide the next coming months of him actually being a terrible baseball player and fans clamoring "intangibles".

Our love affair with Swiharts potential finally comes to an end. It does hurt a bit but he hasn't hit since 2105 and you can say he was never given a starters chance but he never earned it either. Just the way it goes sometimes right, like Henry Owens and Lars Anderson they don't all meet their potential. Maybe he does it somewhere else but that is a big maybe when nobody is willing to cough up anything. Good luck though Blake.

Unbelievable, just unbelievable how much they mismanaged his career and never gave him a legit shot despite the fact that he always looked clearly talented. Screw this sh*t.
