i saw Dalbec last year in a game and he was crushing it. I got the sense we will be seeing him in The Show.

I’m just curious to see if Sam Travis can outperform his last 2 spring training performances

I wish I could have seen Hernandez pitch today. He seems electric. You read about him and think the next Andrew Miller or Josh Hader. Multiple inning lefty with a 95-100 mph fastball and a nasty slider. He looked great. His best secondary seems to be his curve, not a slider though. He still needs to be developed as a starter IMO because those are so much more difficult to obtain and he looks like he can be a good one. But they should definitely line his innings limit up with him contributing in the bullpen towards the end of the season. To me he had a very high effort delivery. That bespeaks of a reliever.

Good to see Dalbec hit the HR, but if we're being honest... look at the pitch he hit. #BPfastball I don't know man, Heath Hembree was throwing that stuff in the World Series and he still got a job. Please bullpen be good.

I don’t know how they hit, but it’ll be good to have Casas and Dalbec around for bench-clearing brawls. I wish they’d resigned Joe Kelly even more now!

I’m cautiously optimistic that Dalbec will be a force to be reckoned with in Portland over the course of a longer period... I don’t think he’ll ever hit for a high average, but his power and OBP should make him a decent addition to the lineup by (hopefully) this summer. Same for Chavis, though I think he’s more of a wild card than Dalbec.
All I can think back on in regards to Dalbec is seeing him in Lowell soon after he was drafted and seeing how he crushed the ball so easily. That power is rare. As Pena stated on yesterday’s broadcast, Dalbec kept a short stroke and barely swung hard and it was crushed to dead center, even if it was a college pitcher meatball. If he keeps a compact swing and relies on his inner strength instead of swinging too large, I think he’ll be a pleasant surprise.

Am I allowed to be a little giddy that Josh smith just struck out Aaron Hicks to open a ST game against the Yankees?
edit. Well I jinxed him. They are hitting him hard, including a bomb by Torres right after the K.

Is Carlos Pena in the booth? I like him so far. Much less obtrusive than Gomes

Devers looks like he's in good shape. And he looks bigger to me as well.

There are a few still photos from 2018 that will be pictures I’ll remember forever. Your own avatar is one of them. Joe Kelly waiting to fight Tyler Austin is another. Benni making that catch right in front of a scoreboard showing 108 wins...just gold.

Castillo made bank for never playing in the majors. Strange deal, doesn't happen too often, if ever.

Well, after only two games, I am already tired of 'he barrelled it's.... Gomes' voice alone makes me want to mute the tv. I'm sure I'm not alone on that one. What is the plan this year for the NESN broadcasts? Gomes is pretty bad, but for some reason I don’t mind. When he would explain simple terms (“that’s a double steal because BOTH runners ran”) I found it amusing rather than annoying. I preferred him over Mike Timlin. I read recently Eck will be in the booth for 85 games and Remy is back too.
