Well, mlb stats rates us 14th in batting, 27th in pitching and 25th in fielding. That translates quite well to our near worst record in baseball. And at some point, as the saying goes, comes the realization that you are what your record says you are. That doesn't happen in 11-12 game stretches. Maybe, maybe not. The Marlins were pretty bad starting off in 1998. We have performed poorly across the board.

Time to trade Mookie for whatever they can get. Also Benintendi and Sale and Devers and Pedroia and Barnes.

In 2018 the Red Sox would have found a way to win that game. In 2019, nope. I wasn't expecting 17-2 again, but 3-9 is quite pathetic and unacceptable.
Teams do go through bad stretches. It's disappointing that this team couldn't win on freaking ring ceremony day, when you'd think they'd play with a little extra fire, instead of just another run of the mill loss.

This team is trash and won’t make the playoffs. Digging themselves too big a hole.

There's a saying that you can't win a division in April, but you can certainly lose a division in April. The Sox will be testing this unless they comeback here. 6 games back already in the division. The Sox are 1 more bad week of baseball of maybe having wildcard only hopes.

I can’t wait to come back and read some of these comments in September when the Red Sox clinch a postseason spot.

I'm sorry but this team is playing like crap. they are in pull mode on almost every pitch and you can't do that on outside pitches guys. allow a team to steal home against you?? Passed balls and a bunch of singles to the oppo field beats us. time to go back to spring training. All happy to be home except they don't play like it. Just another poor showing from a supposed World Sweies team.

I can’t wait to come back and read some of these comments in September when the Red Sox clinch a postseason spot. I think it's probably more likely than not that the Sox get to the post-season, but it's not a given and I think acting like it is makes no sense. Unless there are some major surprises you have the Astros, Yankees, Rays, and Red Sox vying for 3 spot (in addition to the AL Central winner). I'm not as comfortable with the thought that the Sox can be mediocre to absolutely lousy for a long stretch of the season and be a shoo-in to make the playoffs. Besides, since when do the Sox shoot for the Wild Card? If you're not at least concerned with the Red Sox you haven't been paying attention. Their ace has been bad. The rest of the rotation has been bad. The bullpen is still uncertain, in my opinion, even though it has performed reasonably well thus far. The defense has been jagged and the offense hasn't had the explosiveness that it had last year. I would anticipate that it gets better, but I wouldn't bet my life on the Sox making the playoffs. I think they will, but it's far from certain that they will. What is amazing to me is that they've playing 12 games and had 0 comfortable/blow-out wins. Blow-out wins is a mark of a good quality team. The Sox haven't had that. Of course, we know that the starters are still in spring training mode. Just don't think that you can spot too much of a lead to teams like NY, Houston, and TB.

I mean, obviously this team is much better than this. But also, it's a very slow start and the Yankees (when not injured) and Rays appear to be very good teams.

Yeap I said exactly what you described on July 19th and you're not just being some blind defensive homer here.

My feeling...we are a great team playing poor baseball. And...things even out. Tons of good breaks last season are not falling the same way this year so far. Great teams typically never have 3-9 stretches... this isn’t a case where they’ve had some bad bounces. They are playing like straight garbage.

This is not those teams. The entire team didn't become terrible baseball players in one offseason. I swear Boston fans have become so entitled.

I dont buy the wild card only scenario personally, but lets indulge and say that happens. A team that gets hot in September with good pitching is always a threat in the post season. Both Sale and Porcello are going to have to come around big time by then. At this point I am concerned on Sale, a month from now with the current trend I'll be worried.

I swear Boston fans have become so entitled. You left out the part about people screaming for Cora's head already. I am pretty sure he didnt forget how to manage over the winter either. I have not seen him step in the batters box or on the mound so far this season so I dont think he is the problem.
