Dave O’Brien noting Walden’s one career save... failed to note that was three innings of mop up duty in a blow out.

Thank goodness he's hot again. Need more of that. FWIW, Devers’s style (all fields, LD>FB, hard contact) all suggest a BABIP “skill,” hence his regularly putting up mid-300s in the minors, and during his first taste of MLB. A true-talent .350 BABIP is rare (Jeter and Boggs, both oppo-heavy LD are examples), but I don’t think there’s much reason to expect any significant regression for Devers. I doubt his career line comes to .354, but .330 would be no surprise to me, at least for an extended stretch. And there’s natural variability, too. All of which is to say that I wouldn’t be remotely surprised if he put up a .354 or even .384, or dropped to .324. I don’t think (especially if he starts hitting more HR) it’ll have much of an effect on his overall production. Even without particularly good speed, his style is likely to surpass avg BABIP by 20-40 points.

Walden is a great story, but he’s nowhere near closer material. His stuff doesn’t even come close to past Red Sox closers Papelbon, Koji, Kimbrell, and even Foulke

It seems like someone would love for us to trade Devers. Really down on him when he's making errors and not hitting for power and calling him lucky when he's doing real good. You can try to hide it, but it's so obvious to everyone here. Nope, just a position switch and a slight adjustment to his swing to increase launch angle, which may or may not be happening at the very moment. Devers is a fixture here for years. You're reading it wrong. Omg stop with the position switch, man 🤣🤣🤣. Dude’s 22 and improving. Most guys his age are in high-A or AA. Let him learn a little before you send him to first. I do think you’ve a point on the LA though. Possible it hurts the BABIP (FB are often outs), but should boost the power quite a bit given how hard he hits it. TBH tho I’d prefer a .325/.400/.500 hitter with 20-25 hr and 40 2b than .280/.360/.525 with 35 HR and 25 2b. It’s possible this is best for him. Let it warm up a bit and see if some of those long liners/FB turn into HR.

Dreadful performance. It was gonna happen at some point. Their three best relievers all coughed it up. Meh...what’re you gonna do? Let’s just hope the offense picks them up rn and Walden walks away with yet another win by shutting them down in his second inning.

Lol, it’s a nice park for HR; he’s been “unlucky” a few times too...some killed by wind or location. The power’s gonna show up cuz he’s been crushing it 110 mph+ lately.

Workman got a deceiving ERA. Too much walks. Seems he is always in the mix for games that are blown by letting a small lead gets smaller.

Speaking of another regression that I talked about which the board didn't like....the bullpen.
