Not to put him under the microscope even more but a couple things about Loubier and these supposed starter traits. First, I haven't seen reports that he throws a slider....I've seen his pitch mix reported by Perfect Game and Speier as including FB, CB, and CH. This brief look at Loubier from Perfect Game is dated back to Oct. 2018 so its possible he's added a little velocity since then (PG at some point clocked his max velo at 90mph), but it also highlights the potential of his secondaries and perhaps some advanced ability to tunnel his pitches at least relative to his age: Also noted in that report are his "highly repeatable mechanics." For those that are interested in seeing his delivery...granted its a single BP pitch but this looks to my highly unqualified eye like a very easy, clean delivery: He may never add sig velocity, and may never advance past AA...but with nearly 3/4 of a million dollars saved from the first 10 rounds of our draft, why not add him to the prospect pool and see how he develops? Here's another clip of Loubier on the Fenway mound:

Not sure if it's been like that, but Karson Simas has "Boston RedSox Organization" in his Twitter bio now. Caleb Hill has "Red Sox" in his as though he's signed as well. Good catch here from Chris two days ago.

With Blalock and Simas signed I am very happy with our draft this year! I doubt the Red Sox are going to sign any more players, but I hope to sign at least one more. If they sign even one more player like Mauloni, Irwin, or Roberts possibly would be amazing?

One more of Beck, Roberts and Anu please. I think Anu already said he was heading to Kentucky. Beck also seems pretty intent on going to Tennessee. I'm really hoping they can snag Roberts with remaining money after signing Cellucci.

Just wanted to know why some of you want to see Anu signing today as the deadline. Is he special hitter? The problem is he cannot hit with wood bat from Cape Cod as summer league. I checked his stats from Cotuit: .174 AVG, 4 HR, 15 RBI, 0 BB, 20 K. Does you want him as future Red Sox despite the CC stats? How much did he asking for as potential signing?

Anu has told the Sox he's going to Kentucky - per Kentucky beat writer Dearek Terry's Twitter account

One more of Beck, Roberts and Anu please. It seems to me that they would have offered about the same amount to Roberts that they did to Loubier, and maybe went to him first, and he turned them down.

No Hill, although can sign up to next year's draft I believe? Since he's a senior.

May have missed these, but I have no signing bonus for Cellucci, Simas, Blalock, or Hill (assuming he signed). If anyone has those figures, please post them. Thanks.

With an hour left before the deadline, it seems as if the only guy in play for $ is Roberts, and the $523K they could offer him (assuming Simas and Blalock signed for $125K or less) is more than he was projected. I think it's possible that they offered him less when they thought others guys were in play, but now that there aren't any, there's no good reason not to offer him what's left in the pool even if they think it's a slight overpay, correct? Is Blake Loubier the same kid listed as “Stephen Loubier” on Perfect Game’s website? The picture is him there looks the same as the kid who is on the twitter page and he was a Wake Forest commit (also listed as going to Oviedo HS) If that’s the case, might be easier to find info on him His name is Stephen Blake Loubier, but his Dad is Stephen J. Loubier, so he's probably been "Blake" since he was a kid. He's also a registered Republican (the wonders of Google!) I had a childhood friend named Keith L. Eller whose Dad was, insanely, Keith B. Eller Jr. My friend was "KL" at home (cool, since it was close to "Kal-el"), but "Keith" at school ad everywhere else. So if you knew that father and son were both named "Keith" and wanted to talk to talk to the kid and reasonably asked to speak to "Keith Jr.," you'd get the Dad. Brilliant.

I expect Cellucci and possibly even Simas received some overslot money. I hope you're right and there's enough left over for Roberts with that scouting report but would be surprised if there was.

I'd be surprised if Simas was >$125K given he had no college commitment. Even if Cellucci signed for $250K ($125K against cap), there would still be about $390K ($265K against cap) left for Roberts.

I doubt they would have announced their signings if they were still expecting to sign anyone else.

I doubt they would have announced their signings if they were still expecting to sign anyone else. That means Cellucci probably received a bonus close to $500K. I guess it's possible but unexpected given his inconsistent track record.

Its also possible negotiations with the Roberts, Beck, and Anu trio fell short and they realized they had the $ to sweeten the pots for Simas and Blalock. The fact that they signed today and not soon after the draft (like Herbert and Paulino) make me think they may be slightly overslot even if their pedigrees don't suggest they would be.
