Lowe can seriously crush the ball. He’d hit 40 homers if he were a Yankee.

I was just looking at our active roster - 1/3 is totally unexpected - no way we could have guessed at the start of the season.
Smith, Walden, Brewer, Taylor, Shawaryn (maybe even Workman) - Chavis, Travis, Hernandez, (maybe even Leon) - between 8-10 of 25 are quite the surprise.

Guessing Nunez will break up the perfect game in the 8th inning lead off.

Chavis is just waving at everything now. He’s trying too hard

That's what you get for starting Josh Smith.

Why do we keep running these scrubs out there? Smith and Weber have been getting beat up

Uh....you know that could be construed as your position anytime anything even remotely critical of the Red Sox is mentioned. How about instead of the condescending superiority thing you do, how about you follow the Red Sox the way you see fit and let others follow the Red Sox the way they see fit? Live and let live. No need to act like a bully. If you disagree either use facts or move on. You're not going to change the way I see a game. You're not going to change the way others see the game and I wouldn't change a thing about the way you see the game. If somebody is really out of line a moderator will take care of it. The crybaby photos are just plain rude. I've never in my life been accused of bullying anyone. Complaining about pathological negativity is not bullying. I am doing what I see fit. Stop complaining about what I'm complaining about and live and let live. Leaving the circle of negativity sit here and have a safe space to whine about how the Red Sox suck despite winning at an over .600 winning percentage for more than a month is not giving up bullying. It's just leaving this place to be destroyed by unreasonable fans. It's called expecting more out of the 108 win WS champions with virtually the same team. They haven't beat a .500+ team in over a month and have a losing record even if you consider the White Sox. They beat some bad teams recently, but unless April and May games don't count, they really hurt themselves in the standings early on. I'll admit I'm a little extra salty because of the Bruins and Kyrie leaving Boston.

They are down 3-0 and have lost 7 out of their last 13 games. You can use stats to look anyway you want to. Boston fans have expectations of greatness. Go root for the Royals if you only want yahoos who only show up when they are winning.

Starting Josh A Smith and then bringing in Brewer in relief is tantamount to forfeiting the game without forfeiting the gate receipts and advertising revenue.

With injuries starting to hit and with no solid options in the minors, it will be interesting how they improve this team with very little money available without going over the highest CBT point.

This is definitely a forum that needs loads of snickers bars when things are not going well. Cranky Frankies all over (yes, I become one of them). For me, it is not that they lose - it is how they lose and look losing. They are better than this (as we saw last year).
But - hell - it is a game thread for reacting to things we see and that is different for each and every one of us. We have great moderators and ground rules - we don't need hall monitors.

Very happy to see Sam Travis getting that hit - I just have an inkling there is a fine player in there that just needs some chances to play regularly.

That's what you get for starting Josh Smith. I mean really, in which evaluator’s universe is this guy an option to start over Sharwyn or Hernandez?

Good baserunning by Nunez. Saw that the cutoff throw was coming behind him, so he just advanced.

Nice. I would have bet my (admittedly not very nice) car against Travis getting a hit there. Pleasant surprises are, ummm, pleasant.

Is there a worse baserunner in the majors than Nunez?

What other options do they got? Darwinzon/Shawaryn at least have potential Shawaryn threw 35 pitches yesterday and we'll probably see Hernandez any minute now. What a catch by Travis!
