Uninformed speculation. It's a long way from Lowell to AA, let alone a major league invite: the speed is other-worldly; the contact rate is eye-opening but the walk rate is absent perhaps because of that; the power is just developing; the switch-hitting is a brand new thing. It would be useful if this sort of guesstimating never saw the light of day since it lights a fire under the media pressure cooker. But hey, it's Boston.

He'd basically have to have a Devers/Mookie/Xander like 1.5 seasons to even be considered as a callup in the summer of 21.
He's much more likely to get called to Fenway for the rookie orientation than to get a spring training invite in 21.

I'll defend the idea. As someone who needs to be added to the 40-man after 2021, the idea that he's the fast-dude September callup that year after finishing the regular season in Portland isn't unheard of. And with that in mind, they might get him acquainted with the major league coaching staff at Spring Training. The idea that he'd be ready to "contribute" in a substantial way is very, very unlikely, but the chance he's a late season callup in both 2021 and 2022 before sticking in 2023 is a path I could see.

What you're saying is somewhat sensible, but both the article and Freddy said Spring 2021 which is pretty outlandish.

Maybe with the recent meteoric rises of Xander, Mookie, Devers, and Benny, some people think that's the norm.

There is a trend towards guys moving faster but even so, if the scouting report literally said "this guy is the next Juan Soto", that timetable would still be like 50/50 at best.

Not only that but pretty much every report ever written on Jimenez uses the word "raw". It takes skills and tools.

A slap hitter who doesn't walk is going to go from Greenville to the majors that fast? I'd like to see how.

I get that Duran is closer to the bigs so ppl hype him more. But Jimenez has better skills at every aspect of the game compared to duran. If Jimenez puts up another season like he did previous I do not see how we doesn't get consideration for a top 100 prospect list.

Seeing Jimenez grow this quickly is exciting. Now you can dream on the kid with the Yoan Moncada/Jasson Dominguez type of build of body.

If nothing else, it's going to be incredibly interesting to see where everyone is placed after a lost season.

Elite speed no question but that was a weak throw to 1st. Weak throw and slow to set but still...The 2b hadn't read the scouting report.

If this kid can turn his frame into game power he’s going to be an absolute problem.
