Nathan Eovaldi will save us all. He is the John Conner of this team*
*Waaaaaaay too early first reaction to watching him pitch today, but I am in a small sample kind of mood.

Anyone have stats from the SS games today? Also, does anyone have a site to stream stuff when they're not on NESN?
Couple twitter finds here too: Duran just tagged up going from 2nd to 3rd on a line drive right at the left fielder. He then scored on an error by the pitcher..not sure if bobbled ball or overthrow. - His speed sounds ridiculous.
Sounds like Kyle Hart gave up two long homers as well.

Looking at the box scores for today's two games what stands out the most for me is Tanner Houk's 2 shutout innings vs. Rays lineup of mostly 1st stringers. He started and allowed 0 runs, 2 BB and 1 hit. 1 K, 3 GO and 1 FO, so I assume induced a double play. With the 5th starter spot up for grabs at this time I would love to see Houk earn that spot. Rooting for the guy !

I'd love to save a year of control of Houck so he should stay in AAA for a few weeks.

I'd love to save a year of control of Houck so he should stay in AAA for a few weeks. This service time rule of 6 4/5 months years of control is about to be reduced. It wouldn't surprise me if it's dropped to 6 2/5 years of control in the next agreement, maybe even less than that. The Bryant grievance all but ensured and sealed this to be fixed. That's why Preller was smart to keep Tatis Jr. up in the majors all year last year.

I saw the stats but any reports on how Nathan looked today? Velocity, movement, and control?

I'd love to save a year of control of Houck so he should stay in AAA for a few weeks. The early season schedule this year does require a 5th starter from the get go. Only 2 off days in April. If he presents himself as the best option based on ST performance then I say let him go from the start. I still like the notion of Houk/ Darwinzon in a job share every 5th day. Build their innings slowly and potentially have two young starters later in the season who still have plenty of innings to give.

What's even more impressive about Eovaldi was his splitter. All 4 k's were on them. That pitch was inconsistent even in 2018 for him. Not sure that I like him already sitting at 100.

I can't tell if these are the starters playing for Baltimore or not. (slight sarcasm)

I know it is early, but Duran is really staying back on the ball and swinging straight he through the ball.
I hope he has a good year in the minors.

Someone explain to me why Kickham keeps hanging around MLB. He's 31 now and hasn't even really excelled in the minors but teams keep giving him a shot. And based on scouting reports it does not look like he's got outstanding stuff which needs to be harnessed.

Duran with a 2nd inning 2 R HR. Opposite field, left of left, tattooed.
He drove in Longhi who had doubled down the left field line.
Martin Perez looked decent. Sat 94-95, threw mostly fastballs, mostly strikes. Gave up one hit to Polonco which was on a decent pitch and an unearned run (Marco throwing error). . . .
Damn, they can't get Duran out. He's now hitting .714. This time a hard flair single to RF off a pitcher that looks tough, Nick Burdi.
lol, yeah they can. Caught stealing against a 100 MPH fastball.

Chavis with a bomb reminiscent of his first 30 or so games on a hanger.
