They're 100% going to try him as a starter. He fits the mold they like of low-milage college pitchers. Also, you've been one of the main complainers about the lack of pitching and now you're upset they take a pitcher?

There’s almost nobody they can take round 5 that would make me think it was worth reaching so far in the 1st IMO. I’ll give Bloom the BTOD but the Sox have had my least favorite draft I think

There’s almost nobody they can take round 5 that would make me think it was worth reaching so far in the 1st I'm pretty content with it. Blaze Jordan wasn't my top choice at 89 but the hitting profile is pretty insane from a bat speed/EV standpoint, not the type of guy you typically get that late. And I actually really like Yorke's profile too, so overall I'm fine with it. If they go with a $5k sign in the 5th then I get a bit less excited but I'm expecting a slot or close to it type pick.

I can’t wait for the creative Minor League Gameday Thread titles that Joel is gonna have fun with. Blaze Jordan! Great name. My first thought was ...... you'll just have wait and see. Actually not as easy as it might seem. And I'm out of practice. Hopefully, I'll have a job next April. I wonder if his parents were Bon Jovi fans.

That 2024 starting staff is going to be expensive. CB hasn't brought a SP prospect to town yet. He didn't in the MB trade or in this draft. Our two best are Groome and Mata, neither of whom profiles as a front-of-the-rotation guy.
I was thrilled to hold onto that 1st round pick because I thought CB would turn it into a SP. Instead, it's a HS 2B.

Still doesn’t justify super reaching in the first for someone who didn’t even fall for signability reasons.

Instead, it's a HS 2B. 1. For the 10,000th time, you don't draft for need, especially not a need that's four years away 2. If all of the hitting prospects pan out then you have a handful of extremely cost-controlled players, giving you more money to spend on pitchers through free agencies, or the prospect capital to acquire pitchers through trades. They'll figure something out, stop worrying about the 2024 rotation.

Still doesn’t justify super reaching in the first for someone who didn’t even fall for signability reasons. I mean, Jordan definitely fell a bit due to signability reasons. Also, Bloom clearly doesn't think Yorke is that big of a reach. You guys get wayyyy too hung up on rankings. I'm not ecstatic with the draft but I don't hate it. I like Yorke and Jordan a lot and see at least an outside shot at starting for the fourth rounder. Could've been worse. And even if it doesn't work out, I at least understand and respect the attempt to employ a bold strategy in an extremely strange draft situation.
