They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

If Richards throws another clunker today (something like 5 ER in 2.1 IP) then I'm either waiving him or putting him in the pen. He's turned into Ryan Webber since the rule change.

His next scheduled starts are: 6/28 KC 7/3 OAK (7/8 off day) All star break after that
His next scheduled start could be 7/26 TOR
If he blows up again vs KC they are just going to give someone a spot start vs OAK. Either Houck (on the same schedule as Richards) or maybe Whitlock with a pitch limit.
So he basically has a month to work on his grip.

Maybe if they move Andriese and want to make Richards a mop-up guy. Or can find a team to trade with who just needs "a starter." If it's just sticky stuff, they will figure out how to cheat (again) soon enough.

Actually with the heavily worked pen, if Bloom is as ruthless as the Tampa tradition (as stated in that article from the Athletic posted a few days ago), he should DFA/waive Workman and Santana, add Ort to the 40 man and bring up him and Franchy to see what we have for a couple weeks. Verdugo to CF, Marwin sits for a while and Kiké and Chavis can alternate at 2nd and/or Chavis can spell Dalbec at 1st here and there and Kiké can spell Verdugo if he needs a day. Darwinzon, who still needs to work on his control, also has options if they want to bring up two fresh arms (Valdez).
DFA-ing Workman and Santana also leaves a slot on the 40-man if they want to bring up Duran later.

MLB hitting in the seven days since the sticky stuff policing:
.234/.316/.387 23.9% k over 6700 PAs
Almost exactly the same as season averages. In the general case, you'd expect June offense to be noticeably higher than full season averages. Hard to reconcile with the evidence that guys like Cole and Richards are having significant declines in performance.

I kind off all set with Workman too. They can easily add two pieces to the pen. What’s the deal with D.Hernandez? Is it basically he has trouble repeating the same delivery? Sometimes I love his stuff. I wonder when they rushed him from AAA. If that extra time would of helped him.

The point i was trying to make was the injury, not the date A cracked rip is no fun if you are an office worker, can't imagine it being fun for an athlete. And broken bones don't heal in 10 (or 14) days ;-)

Just a day off for Verdugo? Yes. Gonzalez crushes Duffy. Fairly large sample.

He’s only insufferable when he’s pitching poorly. Pitching well would do a lot to remedy that complaint lol
He’s a weird (possibly even aloof) Cali bro that’s not used to performance-related failure like the last couple of games. It makes for an easy target when he’s not performing up to par
Here’s to him getting back on track tonight. I bet Royals +130 in my efforts to help the team

Richards fastball cuts like 80% of the time and I’m pretty sure that’s entirely unintentional
Of course a dink shot to lead off the game
