Obsessive college pitcher guy is back. Some college names on the mound you may recognize who were either higher regarded coming out of HS, last year, or in the preseason:
Jonathan Cannon - Georgia - Been mentioned a bunch, is top 100 guy, have to wonder if he has a large price tag?
Owen Sharts- Nevada - Good performer, had TJ this year after 6 starts, track record and was top 200 guy in HS before going to Nevada
Mason Pelio- BC- Had a really good Freshman year, and was someone who wowed scouts during Scouts Day this fall, but he lost his command this spring and walked way too many. He has a really nice change and good arm w athleticism. Prob going back to school, but top 50 coming into the year.
Glenn Alabanese- Louisville - Hasn't pitched a ton since 2018 TJ. But another player that wowed scouts this fall. Has a starters mix, size, just doesn't have the track record of success.
Mason Erla Michigan St- He was a top 200 guy last year, and ubiquitous amongst twitter pleas during the UFDA SZN last year. Every teams' fans wanted him, but went back to to MSU. Anti age model, and fringy secondary pitches.
Cameron Weston - Michigan- pro age model guy. Wouldn't have been eligible if draft was held in June. Good changeup.
Brandon Birdsell- Texas Tech - Was another top 200 guy last yr out of JUCO. Has a good FB/Slider combo, rough delivery, so reliver risk, but a profile we've seen the Red Sox take.
Zach Pettway - UCLA - Stuff regressed big time this spring, but has a track record and really nice change. Is only 6'1 but is an elite extension guy. Senior Sign.
RJ Petit- Charleston Southern - Big, hulking 6'8 guy with a good slider. Saw him face BC this year, and they handled him, but you could tell the stuff was above average. He was 1st team conference pitcher, in a league that had my binkies Mason Miller and Jordan Marks.
Trenton Denholm- UC Irvine - Former Red Sox selection, was a plus command guy that had injuries and hasn't fully bounced back.
Andre Baker - Chipola JC - Decent high pick of out of HS (16th round), has flashed 3 plus pitches, but command needs development.
Julian Bosnic - South Carolina - High effort lefty, but explosive fastball. Pro age model, but not a long track record.
Trenton Wallace - I called him Chris in another thread, prob subconsciously, I get Chris Murphy vibes reading his reports. Needs to work on command but three at least average pitches.
Mason Green - Central Mizzou - Good command, stuff is good, delivery might be RP only, but a good mix here from and unheralded conference.
Justin Wrobleski- OK State - Another top 200ish guy coming out of HS. He had TJ early this year. Showed a plus slider and plus change before getting hurt.
Pete Hansen- Texas - Had a great year as Texas finished 3rd at the CWS, but only sat 86-88 after having a dead arm early in the year. Big Pitchability guy, but likely headed back to UT.
Tyson Guerrero - Washington - Like Erla, Was one of the higher regarded college pitchers to ot get drafted or sign last year. Undersized lefty, but a hammer curve, and officially my fingers crossed guy for today.

Ahhhhh… the elusive “subject-verb” player name.

Ahhhhh… the elusive “subject-verb” player name. Naturally, he was an easy prospect to remember coming out of HS and track throughout his college career.

The real question is whether the Red Sox will draft Oraj Anu for the third time.

I thought this guy was drafted yesterday, but I'd add Will Frish from Oregon St, to the college list. Another likely RP, but two plus pitches.

You would think that if the Sox take anyone today that should get anything significant over 125K then that should be a sign that it might not take as much to sign Mayer/Fabian as we think.

So am I wrong, or should the Sox first pick today be one of the highest rated guys still left on the board? The Sox don't lose anything if they can't sign them, but maybe they hit on a kid who really doesn't want to go to school and just wants to get started on their baseball career.

That's probably how the entirety of Round 11 will go. Most likely the highest ceiling people that they think they can sign with the money they may have left over.

Grab another guy who slid hundreds of spots…. seems the good fortune carries into day 3.
I assume, too, he’s an easy sign.

Nice pick! It may also suggest we intend to spend our entire bonus pool on picks 1-10 but worth waiting a round or two to see if we select anyone that seems likely for >$125K.
