In a workout at Fenway Kavadas took grounders at third. He gets to the ball, but he throws like Bruce Springsteen in the video for "Glory Days." Or throws like my dad, who had a fascist bullet go in the front of his right shoulder in WWII and come out the back. The first 20 seconds of this video is him hitting, then fielding. Maybe you can improve the throwing with more careful weight-training (looks like bench presses all day) and stretching and specific throwing practice; as he says, "some long toss." Here's a fun video from a year ago, [Playing] "Catch with Kavadas." Loves baseball. Edit: not that it this video it seems like he was disappointed not to be drafted in 2020; his claim that he'd be happy to go back for another year may be posturing.

Josh Hood ranked #8 transfer in college baseball this year by BA: “ Hood burst onto the scene in 2019, hitting .331/.411/.580 with eight home runs and 42 RBI on the way to first team Freshman All-American honors. It’s on the promise he showed then that NC State is banking, because we haven’t seen much from Hood since then. His 2020 season was limited to eight games and a .263/.256/.342 slash line due to the pandemic, and with the Ivy League’s decision to severely limit team schedules in 2021, Hood announced his intention to transfer before Penn played a truncated 14-game slate. That promise is also why Hood was still taken in the 20th round by the Red Sox this year despite not playing this spring. With Jose Torres leaving via the draft, the door is open for Hood to take over as NC State’s next starting shortstop.” www.baseballamerica.com/stories/ranking-the-top-transfers-in-college-baseball-entering-2022/

UDFA FA Kier Meredith: REPORT: Some bat-to-ball skills, runs somewhat high contact rate (> 80 percent) but struggles w/ spin and tends to expand the zone. Fringy athlete, average runner. Playing corner outfield but doesn't have enough power to play there at next level. Has hit just 5 home runs through his first four years, 4 came in his senior year. Runs low walk rates, but doesn't strike out very much. 50-grade hit, 30-grade power. Very little upside as he's contact-first corner bat w/ negative defensive value. Career OBP > .400 so he likely gets an opportunity. Mason McRae: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MrXLOukRj_7ft2OALM8np4HemcIB9IyJ40yP4bfXXcY/edit#gid=641465746

I had a case of transverse myelitis in 2018 and was quadriplegic for a week or so before recovering with some nerve damage but all my day-to-day functions. I haven’t taken groundballs at 3rd since 2012. Haven’t thrown anything since 2018. I think I’d look within half a grade of Niko there if you hit me some fungoes in 5 minutes
Just mash bubba and you’ll be loved. Don’t worry about corner OF or 3B lol

RE: Kavadas that's a first baseman if I've ever seen one. Lol. It warms the heart, doesn’t it? Watching Kavadas’ Paul Bunyan hacks, one can’t help being reminded of a bygone era.

There could be more pop in the bat too, his low HR totals can be attributed to the fact he basically missed '18 and '19 and '20 was cut short, he's only had 300 college ABs, which is prob why he went undrafted. But he's pesky, not a lot of swing and miss in his game. He struck out 6 times in 66 ABs last yr and 28 in 180 this year, he was also hit by 19 pitches! 19! His build reminds me of Rickie Weeks, he's compact and thick, and naturally he's another pro age model player. Prob has a Tony Kemp or Adam Frazier (b4 this 1st half) type ceiling when all is said and done.
