You would think that if the Sox take anyone today that should get anything significant over 125K then that should be a sign that it might not take as much to sign Mayer/Fabian as we think. So am I wrong, or should the Sox first pick today be one of the highest rated guys still left on the board? The Sox don't lose anything if they can't sign them, but maybe they hit on a kid who really doesn't want to go to school and just wants to get started on their baseball career. You're not wrong. Every year there are players who surprise us by how much under/over they go. I suspect the Sox know what it's going to take to sign all these guys.

Honestly I'm happy enough with just rounds 1-11. Not expecting anything else notable unless possibly a back end college pitcher.

Not that you're screwing your draft up if you can't sign a guy after the 10th round, but, with only 20 rounds you think they want to sign most of these guys.

I like him! He is a man among boys! Jesus, Mary, and Joseph! That’s a Matt Stairs piece! Love me some funny sluggers.

Kavadas has history of hitting w the wood bat, he's hit elite velo before, I understand his defensive limitations, and the hyper focus on athleticism, but I am still shocked he fell out of the top 10 rounds. This isn't your Eddie Furniss type college-only slugger. So elated with this pick.

Red Sox select Niko Kavadas, 1B, Notre Dame! I didn't want to jinx it so I didn't mention his name. Niko the Nuke Bomb! Great job by SP staff identifying him in the Draft Preview as a possible pick. I won't mention what round though

So at his age, where do you start him? It has to be at least Salem for certain, but should he start at Greenville? Time's a wastin'.

Kavadas. The Greek god of....?
It has been broched in the threads but with one less minor league team, does the organization have room for 20 new draft picks, plus say 5 or so undrafted kids. I think its ridiculous what they are doing in the florida league as I think they have something like 36 guys on their roster.

Believe this is off Ryan Cusick... One of two homers Kavadas had off of Cusick in that game.

So what if he is 1b? Someone has to play there! This feels like getting a guy who could (should?) have gone in the 4th or 5th in the 11th. Sweet.
