Marwin batting 7th because that's where pitchers always bat.

Pérez demoted to the pen per Cotillo. That would presumably line up Rodriguez, Eovaldi, and Sale for the Tampa Bay series. I like it.
And the Yankees series, actually, since it looks like they're sticking with the 6-man rotation with Houck taking Perez' place.

Marwin batting 7th because that's where pitchers always bat. I wish that was the reason. It's actually because we have two hitters in the lineup worse than him.

If the Blue Jays get swept their season is over, if the Sox get swept we can still fight for the wild card. It's clearly worse for the Blue Jays. It still would suck horribly for us to get swept but "terrible" seems to be the right word for it. You might be projecting, in that if we get swept by Toronto that's likely a sign that we're not good and will struggle the rest of the year. That could be true but that's still an assumption on future outcomes. Incandenza is just objectively looking at these three games. But, Jesus, these *boards* if the Sox get swept…. We'll have to install a medal detector after log in if the Sox get swept. It escalated quickly after the loss yesterday. At the very least we should be sharing our excess anti-psychotics with our less fortunate brothers.

Marwin: .179/.233/.250 Dalbec: .217/.257/.394
Vazquez: .254/.305/.332 Franchy: .333/.371/.515
Also, Marwin over the past two calendar years: .228/.294/.334. He beats out some very stiff competition to be the worst hitter on the team.
And then there's Franchy, who's good now.

Eyerolling them for being smart and taking precautions? It's not like they'd trot him out there if he were sick anyway, at least now they can bring someone up to fill the spot, right?

He’s not feeling well so they might as well manipulate the roster and get an extra player up if he isn’t going to play tonight anyway

How about a risk analysis? The rapid antigen test for the virus - the one I assume they've been using on a day-to-day basis - hovers around 50% when it comes to correctly identifying someone who has the virus. In other words, even if he had two tests that both showed negative, he still has a 25% chance (.5 x .5) of actually being infected. They probably put him on the COVID list to have him get the PCR test which is very effective at identifying the virus. That takes a few days. The other option is to take that 25% chance of infecting others on the team. That triggers 10-day quarantining. That's a fairly high amount of risk given what's at stake for the team in a pennant race.

Who does Ort have to kill in order to get a shot? You have Austin Davis on this team right now... Him and Munoz could help this team. RE: Ort, from May 20-July 24, he walked 15 guys in 24 innings, or 5.63 per 9. That's just not getting it done. Now, that said, he's had 3 appearances without a walk, and has 7 K in 3.1 IP in those appearances. If he's getting back on track control-wise, he's in the conversation for September. Cora's media session today included him saying Perez has been moved to the bullpen (insinuating for Houck) and he alluded to the fact they need to make room for Sale (very clearly will be Richards moving... somewhere). I don't think it makes sense to add an Ort type to the 40-man until they see where they're at once Sale gets added.

Yeah, I'm at the point now where I'd DFA him and give Munoz a look to see if he can take on the roll with an eye toward next year as well.

The problem is that Munoz he doesn't draw BBs at all. He has 12 in 293 PAs with Worcester. With the RS last year, he had no BBs in 45 PAs.
