The top of the Jays’ lineup is ridiculous. They can put up multiple touchdowns any day.

The Red Sox are in second place in the division. If they get swept in this series they are guaranteed to... be in second place in the division. Then Sale comes back during the TB series. Then they get Baltimore at home, and somewhere in there Schwarber arrives. If they can scratch out two wins in this series that would be great. But nothing can happen in Toronto (save some plague of injuries) that would really be catastrophic. i love the glass is half full mentality! It's 90% full, you guys just don't see it.

I mean… I don’t think it is negative to say that they are probably the better team on paper, especially after the deadline. But… the Sox have a lead they can make stick — game’s not played on paper!

I don't care if the Blue Jays are the 1927 Yankees. When you have a lead like you do thus late in the year, you don't blow it. Take care of your games and there's nothing anyone can do. It's a debacle if they finish under Toronto and yes, they're a very, very good team who vastly underperformed this year. Just win games your supposed to and split the series. Nasty Nate is doing everything he can right now. This offense needs to snap back from this funk they're in. Call them over achievers all you'd like, JDM, Xander, and Verdugo should be hitting much better than they have as of late. Duran is better than an 38% strike out hitter. Live up to those expectations and they don't fall behind Toronto.

It feels a bit like we get backup quarterback syndrome around here. Folks thought Duran was the answer, complained about the wait… and now we see maybe the wait was not long enough. Ort? Is he really a huge difference maker? Seabold? The guy threw 16 games in 2019, 0 in 2020, and 5 this year. I am enthusiastic overall, but this notion that he is ready to roll… it is not a forgone conclusion that he is a significant improvement. God knows I’m not a “trust Bloom” guy, but I think they’d make any moves that seemed highly likely to make them better. Manfred - i thought you were a Bloom man top to bottom (including on the Mookie trade).

Not ideal, but a very productive out. Game is officially in the Red Sox hands now.

Nice manufactured run. I would prefer more damage but beggars can’t be choosers at this point

Also it seems like Verdugo is putting some much better swings on balls lately, even excluding tonight

It is amazing how much more I enjoy watching Eovaldi than any other Sox starters. Strikes, strikes, strikes.
