2021-2022 National Rankings (offseason)

You need to account for future projections like power. Veen is a big kid who has a feel to hit, already some power, and massive raw power. That alone, combined with being an above average runner, can give him an edge over Yorke. They most likely see a much higher ceiling for Veen compared to Yorke, even though Yorke pretty clearly has the high floor(low k rate, good bat to ball skills and discipline). Also just a disclaimer: Yorke is a better prospect than Veen in my book, just trying to explain why I think they would put Veen above him. To add on, just because one prospect had a better offensive season than the other statistically, doesn't mean they instantly become a better prospect. People are still under valuing Yorke. Take his 1st month away and he was right up there with the top prospects of the past decade. Heck he was up there with that bad 1st month. So he wasn't just better, he was a lot better. With how he did it is what has me optimistic that this is him and he is going to do it again this year in high A and the AA. All this stuff is driving him also and he has it all at the plate.

Kiley McDaniels list on ESPN this morning. He's still a believer in Jimenez at 6 and Song at 11. es.pn/3D9o8sd

nesn.com/2022/03/heres-when-mlb-com-believes-triston-casas-will-debut-for-red-sox/Triston Casas is getting closer to his Major League Baseball debut with the Boston Red Sox. It’s unclear when exactly we’ll see the top prospect, but MLB.com predicted it could be as early as this season that fans will watch Casas at Fenway Park. Sam Dykstra published a piece Friday breaking down when he thinks the Top 100 prospects will get to MLB. While he believes some will crack the roster for Opening Day, others, like Casas, is predicted to be donning a Red Sox uniform midseason (June, July or August). Here’s Dykstra’s explanation: Boston was rumored to be involved in the Freddie Freeman sweepstakes but ultimately didn’t make an aggressive enough offer because of the presence of Bobby Dalbec and the charging Casas. If it all clicks, Casas has a better ceiling than Dalbec, considering his own prodigious power and much better overall hit tool. He can also be a defensive asset at the cold corner, and after reaching Triple-A Worcester at the tail end of 2021, he’ll be just a short drive down the Mass Pike away from bringing those tools to the Fens. Dalbec struggled at the beginning of the 2021 season but found his stride in the second half, specifically after Kyle Schwarber was acquired by the Red Sox. Casas has had eyes on him for years and now that he’s on the doorstep of MLB, we’re sure fans will be keeping tabs on him with the Worcester Red Sox.

Never heard first base referred to as the Cold Corner but I love it. Nor have I but if 3rd is the hot corner it certainly makes sense to say 1st is the cold corner.

'The warm corner' is another option, but 'Triston Casas manning the cool corner' has a nice ring to it.
