How is Winckowski looking? Can’t watch tonight settling in after some early wildness. Me Likey Wincky so far.

It’s been a lot of fun watching the Red Sox kick the crap out of these tomato cans lately. That’s what they are SUPPOSED to do. But they are still 7-14 within the division. Can they carry this momentum forward against NYY, TOR & TB? one word. Starts with a Y, ends with an S.

Umpires should let JD call the pitches, he knows the zone better

10 shutout from Crawford and Winchowski so far As long as they don’t have to face Toronto or NYY

With the defensive concerns that he had? Sure Now that he’s playing ok defense back up the brinks truck For a player who never had higher than a 134 wRC+ and also had major defensive questions, and who they still had two years of control of? Sure, I think it was a pretty fair offer. Not that Devers was obligated to accept it, but I think it's silly to say it wasn't a real offer. I think they really wanted to extend him.
Now their offer to Bogaerts on the other hand...
ADD: Also it sounded like the hangup for the Red Sox was more the number of years than AAV. The offer might have been like 7/210, including the two controlled years, running through Devers' age 31 season. Frankly I would have taken that if I were Devers - that's a lot of money plus a chance at another big payday.
so for a 60 game sample he has increased his value 100 million ? I don't agree guys, there was plenty of reason to think he hadn't reached his potential. If Devers had hit the market prior to this year, i am pretty sure someone would have offered 10/ 250 mill. By definition, that is his market value. Anything less is a discount. add: i agree on the years point. I would have been thrilled signing him to 10/$300M before this season.

I think @jerrygarcia and I are on the same page in saying that no matter how high his xSLG is, if he hasn't hit a homer in 47 games, he hasn't hit a homer in 47 games.
No, homers aren't everything, but you either hit a homer or you don't. You can't really have "expected HRs." Sure, some flyball outs would've been homers in other parks and you could have a homer robbed by an OF reaching over the fence, but those are pretty rare.
Can he hit a ball into the Monster seats? I bet he can. Can he hit a ball into the visitors' bullpen? I bet he has. Has he not hit a ball in either of those places because of bad luck? I don't get that.
What I get is that he does not have the skill that Didi Gregorius does in hitting 10 330 foot home runs per season. The results are bad, the process and how hard he is hitting the ball is not. All we need to do is wait. .

It will be all the more delicious when they lose in their first playoff series. 2021 LA Dodgers won 106 games and lost to the 2021 Atlanta Braves who only won 88. What happens on the field sometimes is not what you would expect… The 2001 Mariners won 116, lost the ALCS 4-1
