They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Mildly annoyed to learn that Rutschman's framing numbers are grading out as elite

These last two weeks of August really seem like the make-or-break stretch that will determine if the end-of-year divisional games really matter.
8/19: @orioles 8/20: @orioles 8/21: @orioles
8/23: v. Blue Jays 8/24: v. Blue Jays 8/25: v. Blue Jays
8/26: v. Rays 8/27: v. Rays 8/28: v. Rays
8/29: @twins 8/30: @twins 8/31: @twins
I really think they need 9 wins out of this stretch. Maybe can get away with "only" 8 if the losses are mostly bunched so that we only directly lose ground to one Wild Card contender. Let's hope we get "good" Nick this weekend and that Camden can rejuvenate some bats. Can we get the long-awaited JD oppo job?

Red Sox have the superior rotation in this series.

Red Sox have the superior rotation in this series. The Orioles starting pitching is brutal. How are they over .500? Tyler Wells is their only pretty good starter, and he’s hurt. Madness.

It seems like the only bad starter they've given significant time to is Bradish. Austin Voth has done a nice job in the rotation the last month or two, for instance. Rolling out a bunch of 4-ish ERA starters is a pretty decent plan if you've got a good bullpen, which the O's seem to. They don't get great starting pitching, but "serviceable" is more valuable than we tend to give it credit for.

Mildly annoyed to learn that Rutschman's framing numbers are grading out as elite Don’t worry. Only one more season to go until the robots start calling balls and strikes(allegedly).

Instead of robots why don’t they just use clones?

Mildly annoyed to learn that Rutschman's framing numbers are grading out as elite More than mildly annoyed that umpires are so bad, pitch-framing is a thing. Pro-tip: If the catcher moves the glove into the zone, 99% of the time, it was a ball.

I'm assuming that Cora's just taking advantage of an opportunity to give JD two days consecutive days off rather than there being something more serious. I do like the lineup order given how everybody's hitting right now.

Mildly annoyed to learn that Rutschman's framing numbers are grading out as elite 70 games - 3.2 wins above average (BP), and that's before accounting for this skill. He's going to live up to the hype easily from these early returns. He was outstanding at Oregon State, so he's not missing a beat as he moves into the majors.

The orioles seem like a bit of a sleeping giant right now. Rutchman certainly looks the part of a top 5-10 catcher in the making. Grayson Rodriguez sounds filthy and gunnar Henderson is a top 5 prospect in baseball at ss. They also have a little bit of ability to throw some money around as Chris Davis contract is coming off their books soon.
That could be a really good trio not to mention jackson holiday or any of their other solid prospects.

I get Xander is scuffling recently but my God the way people are acting you'd think he was julio Lugo or something. The dude still has almost 4 WAR. I don't get it.

Maybe the guy hitting 3rd can drive in a run a time or two, idk just spitballing He’s been garbage in meaningful spots all year, that’s not an opinion either.
