Yankee fans are going to have such a happy month! It will be hard rooting for Toronto, Baltimore, and TB. Am I allowed to say I have no beef with the Jays or the O’s?

For any teams that aren't the Red Sox or Yankees, about 75% of my rooting interest is based on the quality of their ballparks. By that metric the Orioles do great, the Jays do terribly, and the Rays are an abomination.

The Jays scare the hell out of me. They really just brutalized the Sox last year and I am still having PTSD from those games. Can they turn that around this year???

I've always liked the Blue Jays. I think probably because I liked their logo and loved Roy Halladay when I was younger.

Arroyo's been hot the last few days so...Let's sit him down. Verdugo RF Yoshida LF Turner DH Devers 3B Duran CF Hernández SS Casas 1B Valdez 2B McGuire C all lefties + turner and Kiké to face berrios Not to mention Arroyo is dealing with that nagging hammy. Need to give him a breather to prevent him from injuring it further.

Looks like the mood has to be set and I am just the guy to do it.
Toronto is a fake cosmopolitan city. A bunch of hosers live there. They can take off, eh ??

It's too early to start praising/knocking parts of the roster construction when successes and failures thus far are driven by injuries and SSS. Mondesi was not expected to be 60 day'd. Arroyo is on a bit of a hot streak now, but early season struggles still have him at a 62 wRC+, well below his career pace. Hernandez has been way worse than expected at SS and he was called into duty in the first place because plans A and B (Story and Mondesi) are on hold. There is little chance all of the Sox SP are going to regress this year. Paxton, Bello, Whitlock, and a number of relievers have missed time thus far. Chang had just started hitting his stride after issues getting into the country and a shortened Spring Training before he got injured. Duvall and Duran have combined to perform unsustainably well. Etc. I guarantee you in a few weeks time you'll feel differently about some of this comment. They are always going to hit. The bullpen would need to be decimated to be poor. There is always going to be good SP depth unless if the rotation gets decimated too. SP performance is going to be the key, and while that's still a question mark, there are plenty of reasons for optimism on that front. Sale has been rusty to start the year, for obvious reasons given the time he's missed, but he seems to be trending up. The odds of Bello continuing to have a 33% HR/FB ratio and a .417 BABIP going forward are extremely low. Kluber's command was back in his last start and he did great against a quality Baltimore lineup. Paxton just dominated in his last rehab start. And, of course, the defense should be better long term when guys like Mondesi, Story, and Duvall come back, which should improve the numbers for all pitchers. I'm feeling very good about where we're at right now. The roster should improve over time in the likely event that injury luck doesn't worsen, and the schedule should also get easier; per tankathon.com, the other 4 AL East teams are in the top 5 for hardest remaining schedules while the Sox are at #12. CF is the only offensive position that stands to regress, while a couple others are likely to positively regress, 1B and 2B in particular. Yoshida looks like he's shaken off his injuries and/or adjusted to MLB pitching. And we're over .500 at 15-14! Gotta love it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a general expectation that Mondesi would start on the 60 day IL? Also, I'm concerned I have seen zero updates about his rehab progress since the beginning of the season... Doing regular baseball activities, can't come off the IL until May 30th at the earliest. My last post in the injuries topic. My speculation only. Since a return within a few weeks was unlikely, putting him on the 60 day to clear a 40 man slot made total sense even if he's ready now.

I'm not sure why any fan Red Sox would hate any team other than the MFY, unless it's for some unique personal reason - like maybe the ex-squeeze who broke your heart came from a family of Marlins fans or something.

I had a grudge against the Mets because of 1986, but of course the next time they were in the World Series was 2000 and I was forced to root for them because they were playing the Yankees. They let me down. And I have to admit, how can you not love the story of the 1969 Miracle Mets? I guess 36 years and counting of waiting for another Championship is sufficient punishment for beating the Red Sox, lol.

The Blue Jays will always get under my skin more than anyone outside of the Yankees, mainly because I'm Canadian and constantly have to hear their fans spout off around me; I'll just say last season wasn't fun in that regard.

I've always hated the Dodgers, pretty much for the same reason as the Yankees. I was a Boston Braves fan before becoming a Red Sox fan and their rivalry was with the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Quick sidenote. When I was a little kid, my mother encouraged me to write to the Red Sox and ask why I should become a Sox fan. I got back a 3 page hand written letter from Jackie Jensen along with a baseball card with a piece of Scotch Tape with his thumb print on it. And no, it's gone.

Duran looks fine in CF. His D is even bigger to me than his bat. He hit in the minors, so it was always possible that would come around. I didn’t know if he’d ever be adequate in the field, though.

Kluber is the worst pitcher of the staff. I just hate watching him pitch.
