They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Messing with any semblance of a sleep schedule.
If Sale is out of the rotation for any significant time, I want Crawford as the replacement starter.

Not sure why there are now scheduled doubleheaders, but the bullpen is already totally wrecked heading into four games in three days:
Wincowski, Martin and Pivetta all worked previous two games. AC did go to Wincowski for a third day in a row during the Toronto series, but obviously he generally avoids it. If you use any of them tonight, they are down for the next three games. How do you get through Saturday with 1-3 of them down for both games?
Garza threw 19 last night with one day’s rest after 41. He’s down. Even though he’s pitched well, he has to be swapped out for any fresh arm.
Sherriff threw 31 and could go tonight after two day’s rest, but he’s the other easily optioned arm. Since he’s available, maybe you get as much as you can out of him tonight, before swapping him out for a Saturday arm - Kluber?
Rodriguez will have had two days off after 36; available, but no length and belongs in mop up right now.
Crawford threw 24 and had last night off. He is going to have to pitch a back-to-back beginning tonight, or Sat/Sun.
Available tonight: Bernardino/Ort (Garza optioned) Crawford Sherriff Rodriguez Jansen

I’m heading to all 4 this weekend. Weather looks a bit sketchy. Don’t care as long as Sox win

Is there still an extra roster spot for game 2? And who the hell is going to start game 2?? A lot of presure on Whitlock and especially houck to make some innings

“Not sure why there are now scheduled doubleheaders” — A change this year, in conjunction with the new un-unbalanced schedule (play every team in the MLB at least one series, resulting in more longer-distance travel); the benefit of the doubleheaders is more days off sprinkled throughout the season, which the players wanted.
Believe teams are still allowed to add one pitcher to the roster for doubleheaders.

The Rays are 27th in team pitching fWAR since May 1st. (Red Sox are 23rd.) Though that's distorted a bit by their position players giving up 10 runs or something in that Toronto game.
And helpfully they're not making us face their two top starters, McClanahan and Eflin. Glasnow's making just his second start back after TJ; I'd speculate that he might be a bit wobbly except that that would guarantee he'd throw a no-hitter.

Looking forward to our revenge sweep. Tampa has exceeded reasonable expectations for too long. Time to restore balance.

Totally blanked on the extra roster spot for doubleheaders (facepalm). Thank you for the clarification on DH’s. I wasn’t sure if that was something we were getting, but that most teams were avoiding. It just suddenly became unfortunate timing.
So with the extra roster spot, if they want to, they can get all three of Ort, Bernardino and Kluber up by the end of Saturday, while still getting to use Sherriff tonight before farming him tomorrow. They can avoid a decision with Sale even though it sounds, at a bare minimum, unlikely that he’s making his next start.

Turner 1B, Casas DH in the lineup is interesting

Hopefully the Sox don't need a scoop out of their first basemen late with the lead considering Turner has botched 2 already.

Turner 1B, Casas DH in the lineup is interesting I was curious when I saw this as well....could Casas be nursing something or they just trying to get JT more time in the field?

I was wondering if they did this to keep a 1B in the game in case they need to PH Refsnyder for Casas at some point. That is probably me over thinking it though. We may see a lot more of Turner at 1B anyway when Duval is back.

I think you nailed it - Tampa currently carries four lefties in the pen - Poche, old friend Diekman, older friend Beeks, and someone apparently named Joe La Sorsa.
Wow, and Trevor Kelley is still kicking around. This seems on the light side for a Tampa pen.

Well that sounds awful. When's the last time this team hasn't had at least one stud injured? 2018?
