Got it, ty. Reported = firm vs speculated.
So the question is really whether Riemer is materially lower and if Taylor's s number is right to know if we can maybe sign Orloski or Schlaegel (who people seem to mention least, for whatever reason)?

Scanning the draft tracker, I counted only 11 bonuses lower than 50k leaguewide. 50k for the senior signs was semi-standard.

Zanetello getting 3 mil makes me wonder if he was an option at 14 in a world where Teel and Shaw were both gone. Was honestly expecting 14 to be a high school position player around 3-3.5 mil. Maybe the security of the Teel pick allowed them to go after a toolsy, first-round talent that they’d usually find too risky to pop as a first rounder. I still feel like McGonigle, who ironically got a lower bonus than Nazzan, or Miller would’ve been the underslot at 14 because of the higher confidence in their hit tools You have really good thoughts here. What I heard was this. A college bat first. Teel was expected to be gone at 14. They had a plan A, B and C. The Cubs picked plan C. Teel was the best player available, so they drafted him. Then Zenetello is available in the second round! He's a great athlete, with great character, and a good baseball player. He might of been their next BPA after Teel. They have to draft him. I don't think they "punted" the rest of the draft at all. This is a very very deep draft where I imagine teams wanted more 1-3 million dollar players. The Sox did the opposite as they should of. They were able to pivot in this draft. I like several other draft picks. It's one of my favorite drafts in 35 years of following the Sox draft.

One thing to note is that there really are not many places to spend overslot money if you're a team that's out on HS pitchers. Starting with the Sox pick in the second, here's all the HS hitters that got overslot in the 2nd/3rd, or a million past that. Keep in mind that every HS player the Red Sox have drafted under Chaim has been young for their class, which further limits the pool.
Zanetello #50 $3 million Walker Martin #52 $3 million (old) Brandon Winokur #82 $1.5 million Antonio Anderson #83 $1.5 million Eric Bitonti #87 $1.75 million Cooper Pratt #183 $1.35 million (old) George Wolkow #209 $1 million

Riemer, Taylor, and Tucker, as well as Call, Schlaegel, and Orloski remain unsigned.

Does anyone know how teams report signings to the MLB by the deadline? Are they required to fax the contract or something?

I could be wrong but you hear about teams sending the faxes by the deadline.

Riemer is currently one of 7 unsigned picks in the top 10 rounds. Wonder if a longer look at his medicals is the hold up.

I looked into this morning and think you only get a comp pick for a draft pick from the first 3 rounds.

If the pick is protected, then the Sox need to offer Riemer 195k to get the comp pick.
If Riemer signs for about that much, the Sox would have 450k of overslot money to offer the unsigned day 3 guys (including Taylor)

A Rule 4 Draft compensation pick is awarded to a club if the club is unable to sign a player selected in one of the first three rounds of the MLB Rule 4 Draft (including compensation draft picks between rounds 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4, Competitive Balance draft picks, draft picks awarded to a club after the club loses an Article XX-B MLB Free-Agent Qualified Player, and draft picks assigned to clubs from the SBP forfeited draft pick lottery). Maybe under this clause since he was a Comp pick.

My understanding per a team source is Riemer is going to sign. Seems like it's more of a logistical thing than any actual problem.
