The Korean signing is an IFA, so not super related to the draft discussion. My guess is 6 ranked (Teel, Zanatello, Anderson, Duffy, Campbell, Taylor) with Riemer and Early being quick risers once they actually get into games next year (assuming they shut Early down). If you are discussing how many drafted players get into Top 30, then you need to assess who might drop out and who might come in. That guy is no different than any other guy in the system that the new draftees would "compete" against to be in top 30. The pitchers are all a function of which ones you think are better than the guys from the past couple of years that are already in pro ball. So if you think the news guys are better than Grant Gambrell, who I didn't list, but was a 3rd rounder in 2019 for KC, then they go in. If you think they aren't better than him or Blalock or Isaac Coffey, then they don't go in. But I would note that guys frequently enter high and fall off, only to be replaced a year later with a similar guy who is a year younger who hasn't yet hit his lumps climbing the system. Are they better than L Guerrero, already at Portland? I didn't even include him as a lock. I left of Hamilton in AAA who has gotten the call once. We will have guys in the 30s that could have been at 20 a couple years ago, however the mods choose to allocate the spots. I appreciate their efforts attempting to rank. I am just commenting the group is deep.

You said "I think only the top 3 in the draft could make top 30, unless the Korean HS pitcher is worthy", I was just noting that his signing was entirely independent of the draft when you implied otherwise.

That is just semantics. It can easily be interpreted both ways. It's better to stay out of those weeds.

They signed UDFA IF Drew Ehrhard from the University of Tampa. Zach's older brother. Comes Chicken Man approved. How can Wade Boggs tweet from the grave? RIP

I'm grateful that we're not one of the teams leaving $ on the table.

Imagine having the top bonus pool + 5% overage and not using it. That must have been an ownership call if not doesn’t look good on the scouting department.

I mean, they still spent more money than any other team but one, but yeah, leaving $1.1m on the table is a weird move. They didn't sign two players, one of whom was a college junior, the other a HS overslot guy. I wonder if something went sideways there...

With all the talent they seemed to be scooping, surprised Seattle is at that end of the table.

Minnesota has never dipped into the 5% overage

I'm grateful that we're not one of the teams leaving $ on the table. I'm surprised teams get that close to the 5% threshold. I'd be scared that giving the player a free meal or flight could push it over.

Thanks to all the posters for all the great info on the newest Sox. I knew exactly zero before the draft about any of them.
From my perspective, I'm most excited about Teel because of catching.

Chris does such a great job tracking the picks, signings and dollars distributed. I'd love to see a final rundown.

Minnesota has never dipped into the 5% overage That is incredible. Quite the penny pinching.

Just want to make really clear that I am one of many people who work for the site, and that I'm not even the primary person who does the above. Mike's the primary guy on a lot of this. Also the draft history page is updated so go check that out if you want said rundown.

Listening to the podcast and it's wild to think what would have happened if Riemer didn't sign. There really are no repercussions for the player and the team is SOL. I wonder how complicated these contracts with the overslot guys get and whether there a provision that lets you take $100k away in the event an underslot guy doesn't sign in a lower bonus round.

My recollection was that he had done a composite post draft in prior years on this page. I just checked out the draft history page and the info is indeed there.
