I dont have a problem moving on from Bush. I will say with some of the retreads Bloom handed him, he must of thought to himself, how many times can I turn chicken feathers into chicken salad. Seemed like he was asked to do it on an all too regular basis. I guess, but he lost big on Jeffrey Springs, Ryan Brasier, Zach Littell, just to name a few guys who are killing it in other organizations.
Granted that's the Rays and Dodgers so it's a bit of an unfair comp.

Regardless of the sport, whenever a head coach stays and almost all of the assistant coaches get axed, it’s usually only a matter of time before the head coach fails again and this time can’t pass the buck. I say just clean house and thank Cora for the good times, but he seems to have ownership eating from the palm of his hand. I like Cora, but think the best thing for the clubhouse would be a fresh start. It really makes keeping Cora even more confusing. Removing his coaches, which he seemingly wasn't aware of during the season ending presser, then telling him he gets to pick the next GM is incredibly confusing.

I mean, again, did you expect him to say "yeah, we're firing some guys but haven't told them yet"?
If you look at the quote he was asked if changes to the staff were necessary for improvement to happen and he said no. He did not say "we are retaining the full coaching staff."
And he doesn't "get to pick the next GM." He's involved in the process but clearly the decision is going to rest with Kennedy and Co.

Exactly. It's a team effort. As a manager he'll be picking daisies before he's ever allowed to pick front office leadership. Any smart candidate would have as many questions for Cora as he would have for them.

Couldn’t Cora just ask if the new guy will give him something better to work with than those guys, if he gets asked that?

If history is any guide, Koji will take over as pitching coach come June

Third base coach and fielding coordinator? Assistant GM? Director of whatever? They can create a position if they want the guy that badly. I'm just spitballing because it seems they have few degrees of separation among them and would appear to work well together philosophically.

If he’s trying be near Connecticut:
NYY - have Matt Blake NYM - fired Buck Showalter, still have current pitching coach? BOS - opening
Maybe Rob Manfred is planning to bring back the Bridgeport Bluefish as an expansion team
(EDITED for foolish typing skills)

I’m sniffing a Kapler/Breslow/Bailey combo joining forces Kapler in what capacity? Like I said to someone else, I would trust a fart after competing in a chili dog eating contest more than I would trust Gabe Kapler in any capacity. No thank you.

The situation seems murky, but Francona really does not come off as a reliable narrator here.
On the other hand, there is a big red flag for me here in that Kapler apparently has a "self-branded belief system."

Bailey seems like a very interesting candidate for pitching coach, but I wonder with David Ross being fired, if someone from the Cubs could be hired. Their pitching coach is former Sox Tommy Hottovy. The assistant pitching coach, Daniel Moskos, was hired during Brealow's tenure and is a former Driveline coach. We know the Sox have hired a few Driveline guys recently. Then there's Danny Hultzen, former number 2 overall pick. He was seemingly hired by Breslow shortly after he retired for a pitching development front office slash coaching role. I assume the Sox will revamp a lot of their pitching infrastructure. In addition to pitching coach, tney probably need an assistant, as well as, a AAA pitching coach, and potentially some development guys.I have no idea how good any of these guys are or if the Cubs will let them go, but I'd love Breslow to have some immediate help revamping the entire pitching operation.
